    Jim,
Where are you located? Northern US? I'm in Southern MI and we're expected to get 9 inches of snow tonight. Not very good sailing weather.

His location info says Juneau Alaska, so I say pretty much northern US. .

We even got snow way down here in southeastern Washington.

So that might be it for boat restoration for now. I did cut a bunch of plugs for all those screws in the transom. It's gonna need to be a might warmer before I can set them in varnish though.

Geez, I see where you could have squeezed at least three more plugs in there.
I hope your down time isn't too long or unbearable.

          Boat looks very nice, sir.

Jim,..... just out of curiosity, do you 'pop' your plugs out of the wood with a screwdriver one at a time, or 'resaw' the wood through the bandsaw (or tablesaw ifnarrow enough) to free them 'en mass' quickly? ... just sort of a pointless curiosity.
              Beautiful work!

Thank you Sir! Don't want to be greedy, taking more plugs than necessary you know.

I've done it both ways Ned, this batch I popped out with a screwdriver, but it is only 150 plugs or so. When I'm cutting more than that at once I'll use the bandsaw. Only trouble with using the bandsaw is that the plugs tend to fly all over the place as they get cut off, so you've got to kind of corral them on the table as the cut proceeds.

I am indeed in Juneau, Alaska and this year looks promising for having a real winter. We generally don't see a lot of extreme winter weather here because the jet stream is bringing warm up from Hawaii pretty much to our doorstep. Which brings a lot of moisture with it too.

I hold a board against then as I run it through the bandsaw. Doesn't work very well if the plug board is over a couple of feet...

I put tape over them. Pull the tape from the board and there they are on a handy dispenser.

A little scrap of plywood held on the off side while sawing will keep them in their holes...
