Default The Harbor Master Called me Today

He said he really didn't want to crush this boat, but he'd have to unless I wanted to take it home.

So Tuesday it is coming home.

Well, that's pretty cool. Does it come with the appropriate ownership paperwork?

Harbor master has clear title and gave me a bill of sale, which is all I need to successfully transfer title.

She does need some work but has a fairly fresh yanmar and a nice dickenson cook stove. The deck has some issues, the hull is fairly sound. I just couldn't let her go to the landfill.

Awesome. Congratulations, Jim! Five should fit on that nicely. Is she shallow enough to make it out of your water? I know that was a concern when planning the bigger sailboat. I don't think she'll make it through the tunnel! What design is she, by the way?

You need a rescue dog to go with that rescue boat of yours.

Will it fit through the culvert?

I really don't know much about her yet. The harbor master thought she was built in 1938 and I think she is a Blanchard boat, other than that.....

I don't know if she'll fit through the tube or not, it's going to be close. But I have a big turn out up by the road where the boat mover is going to deliver her to.

And Yeadon, you are right of course.

Ah, full of junk. That takes me back! I can't wait to hear about the surprises hidden by that junk! But don't worry, we've all been there. It's survivable with support, and possibly beer...

She's 27 feet loa. A nice size for a family boat. Vee berth, galley, and dinette in the main cabin.

    Happy crew.

The harbor master is a really nice guy, who was very relieved when I said I'd take her. They crushed the Silver Surf yesterday, a 38 foot wood troller from the fifties. They try to sell them first, but if no one wants them they don't have a lot of options.

That is a gorgeous, classic looking boat. I've seen much worse that were rescued. She looks just about perfect for cruising Alaskan coastal waters. How much you spend will largely depend on how far you wish to go with restoration, simply functional or all the way to pristine. Congratulations are in order. I have no doubt she will more than repay your kindness with many years of pleasant cruising. Sorry to hear about the troller. They are great boats and there are so few of them left. Glad to know you saved this beauty. Good luck to you both. - John

    That is cool.

Cabin ports and some other things don't look exactly Blanchard to me but I could be wrong. Typical little cruiser of her era. Love it.

Needs a good, sturdy pair of stern bitts for towing, I reckon.

Now that's what I was thinking. Head out to some far away cove with Sparrow in tow, anchor up the mother ship, and then do some real exploring!
