Default Any guesses what this is?

Is this where we play Craigslist guess-that-boat? https://minneapolis.craigslist.org/h...375693189.html

This is for sale for $500 within a couple hours of me. It looks in bad shape topside, but for the spars and sailcloth and a trailer, I'm almost tempted.

I'd probably just mine it for wood and rope and a trailer, but what is it even? The spars have jaws, so something gaff rigged?

Immense long cockpit, what are those delaminated plywood boards even doing there?

I'm looking to buy wood and hardware and maybe a trailer for a first boat build and I'm fascinated with this oddity as a pile of resources rather than a boat.

    Any thoughts?

Looks like a Sharpie from here.
Spars look in good condition - better than that ply down the guts. (Which is doing what?)

Looks like this Bolger "Light Schooner" to my eye.

There's gotta be more than 23 knots in that old-timey rig.

That looks like exactly what it is. I think that I'm too much of a Bolger fan to slice it up for parts, but I also don't need a 25' schooner with a crew of 4 or 5 for my first boat.

Someone else should get it then and make it glorious again. There's a Lake Pepin messabout that would love to see this thing on the water I'm sure.

Thanks for the good eyes everyone. Keep the stories or suggestions on what to do with that boat coming.

If the rest of the ply has started to delaminate then the boat is history other than as a source of parts.

    Nice trailer.
I'd much rather lay in my bunk all freakin day lookin at Youtube videos .

Why didn't they take care of the hull like they did the spars? The spars are in mint condition and the hull is a mess

Spars were stored indoors & the boat was left out uncovered is my guess.

Those spars look unused, never broken in . The whole boat may have been never finished ,or barely sailed

Check out what appears to be rippling in the hull. The whole thing may be toast.

the stern delamination area is the sides of the outboard well.

Would make one heckuva viking funeral pyre. Heck the trailer alone is worth an easy $500

    “… needs some repair….”

An understatement but maybe it’s all ‘cosmetic’ eh?

    Not.

One thing you have not considered, such delaminating ply is a gold mine of consistent thickness veneers. A good steam iron set on high and you are set for the next cold molding adventure.
Get on the phone, haggle a little to show you are serious and go bring it home.

That's right! I didn't realize we were looking at so far in the stern, the perspective somehow fooled me.

This is a good answer to all those people who ask, do I really have to buy marine plywood??

Grab it. My guess is those delay pieces were seat fronts and the builder thought he get. by on the cheap. My guess is the rest of the hull os OK.
