Morning Curtis, I was just sitting here wondering about you and how you all are doing down there in Florida land.

[Curtism]

We're doing just fine. Sis' and I make a great team and we are making strides turning this place back into a home. Shawn is good at seeing the big picture of 'how things should be' and organizing towards that end. While Kim and I are sorting out the logistics of how to make that happen, the nuts and bolts of the operation. None of us need to take on a boss role, we have a huddle each morning to decide which area to tackle next and just get busy making things happen. Kim has no problem staying a room ahead of me, cleaning walls and ceilings and doing prep work. Her recently deceased husband was a serious craftsman and she's well versed in the language of the trades. She knows tools and how to use them and has been invaluable in this renovation.

She's also way experienced at navigating her sister's brain storms and I'm learning many valuable do's and don'ts of the Shawnomenon. Also, being the elder sib of 4, she's great at keeping the focus around here.

Shawn's knee continues to improve and she gets around better each day. She still needs frequent rests so her role is more sorting cleaning and or tossing stuff out, which she's great at! Scheduling contractors for estimates, arranging new utilities and other phone work is solely her department. She also fills the supply sergeant role, keeping a steady flow of food and refreshments handy for the troops. It is all working out better than I expected, way better.

Well, you certainly got your wish. Happier than I've been and too damn busy to be miserable. Not to mention the entertainment value of living with these two. They were the 2 oldest sibs and the only survivors of their immediate family, and so very close. They are different as night and day and you wouldn't guess they were sisters, but it's amazing how they complete each other. Its like watching a chess match where they are both five moves ahead of each other.

And my god, they're turning this house inside out . . . and we're all having a blast.

I went to a funeral for an old childhood and family friend today.
We were in the Boy Scouts together.
He was an Army Veteran and retired a union steelworker.
When I was a bartender/bouncer in my younger days, he was my favorite customer.
He'd help me throw the trouble makers out the door.
He was huge and scary lookin and twice as crazy as me.
He'd always say "Ya gotta be tough if you're gonna be stupid".
A toast to our old friends gone too soon.

Sorry to hear of your loss, Kevin. I'll tip one for him later.

My darling wife was up late finishing her weekly newsletter column. Then she stayed up later to work on next weeks column (she was inspired). Then even later because there's a song she's working on. I finally went and slept in the basement. Quiet there. Now she's miffed because she 'overslept'. The woman is a maniac.
