    Howdy, Robert!
Tulsy has a respiratory condition that has plagued him for years.
He's a tough ole coot but he is damn near worn out and weary of the battle.
He still laughs on good days!
I admire and love him very much!

That sucks. Send him some Imperial Love.
My week was just like being hit on the head with a school bus and kickedd in the crotch by Godzilla.
Physically just a normal one, thank goodness. Actually, great on that front. Feeling in BOTH feet all week! Not,one single tingle, buzz, or zap.

    Peace,

Indeed. Docs told him he'd be dead long ago. And he's still around - providing wisdom and inspiration.

He mailed me another nickel just before I headed off for the boat show, but I'll play it now --

I went up to Shacksdale this evening and watched this guy playing with Libby Rae Watson and Wes Lee. There was another guy playing washboard and bones, but I didn't catch his name. According to Walker, the guitar is a 1934 Gibson that belonged to his father.

Wes, Libby, and Walker played in the bin at Shacksdale.
    The inside of the bin:

    The bin from outside:

Shacksdale is on the old Hopson Plantation and is part of the Shack-up Inn. It is mostly a lot of old tenant houses that are for rent.

I doubt that you will find much like it outside of Mississippi.

This was a completely free show, but they did have a bucket for tips. Evidently enough people leave tips to keep the performers coming back.

Sam Chatmon used to have a rose on the headstock of his guitar. Libby Rae still keeps one on her guitar in memory of Sam.

Yeah, it was a good time. Libby, Lee and Walker have all been in the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, and have each at least made it into the quarter finals. They all play traditional blues, roots, Americana music. A very enjoyable evening. There was another young lady that played a couple of songs, but I didn't catch her name. It was either Kristen or Christian or something similar.

Oh, dang. That's cool, man. Thanks, Jimmy!
I got a whole pocketful of old country and Americana, and my forward and backward rolls are progressing nicely.
I just love these jangly little guitars, too.

    Peace,

I like Shannon's lines in this song.
Mississippi sun doesn't shine this far north
I'm dreaming of peaches and bare tanned knees
A place that's warm where they just let you be
There is a lot of truth to that "where they just let you be" part. Shannon was raised on Long Island, she lived for a year in Paris while in college, has lived in the Los Angeles area, was run out of New Orleans by Katrina and has lived in Mississippi since then.
