My folks had a 21 window - maybe 63ish? 65? Not sure, but I loved all the glass & the giant sunroof. Talk about slow - though it was (IIRC) a 1300, not the 1200 in the one in the ad. I note the 70MPH speedo - better hope for a long downhill and/or tailwind to hit that!

One was for sale here last year, similar to the OP. Completely restored. Was not that high. Was $150K IIRC

There are two kinds of boaters: those who have run aground, and those who lie about it.

Somebody has more money than they know what to do with. Very cool microbus, but still . . . .

My folks had a 1970 VW bus. It was my first car when I bought it from them for $500 in 1975.
    Loved that thing.
I was born on a wooden boat that I built myself.

My dad loved 'em. After the 21 window he had a couple more - maybe even a 70 IIRC. As a car nut teenager, I hated how slow they were. Faster than his 190 Diesel Mercedes though...

Rode in one up I-5 about 5 years ago. I had matured enough in the 30 years since I owned one that I was terrified. It was like sitting on the cowcatcher of a speeding locomotive. And to think I once carried my children on that front sear.

I was driving in LA about ten years ago and saw a late 60ís microbus zoom past me in as I was in the slow lane going 65 and turned into my lane. As the gap opened up in front of me I punched it to close the gap and study what was obviously a non-stock engine. My dad had a Ď59 microbus with 36 hp engine so I was very familiar with 26 second 0-50 mph acceleration.
