Bobby, don't take my carping too seriously.. As a Canadian it is my right to complain about the weather no matter what!. I will take a few really hot days over freezing my butt off any day!!! Just wish it didn't coincide with the wifes plans....![]()
Complain all you want, summer has set in in Oklahoma 88f today and this is just the start of June. No relief till September or October.

Evening, gents. Another 92°F afternoon, but we thought we'd change things up a bit, and have a thunderstorm as well. It did cool down to 71° from the rain, but back to low 90s for tomorrow. Next week looks good so far - highs in the mid 80s and even some 70s in the forecast.
I'm itching to get the Miata back - didn't press on getting it before Memorial Day, but it's about time they wrapped things up.
Hey Fred, You sure have a lot going on in your world.![]()

Don't I know it! It looks like I can stay with this company as long as I don't start drooling while napping (on camera).
They're reimagining my role there - away from Sourcing, and more into SAP master data integrity. That plays more to the strength of my skills, so I'm happy.

Good for you my friend.

Will somebody please come here with firearms. The deer ate every last sunflower I had in a 1 acre plot down to the ground. I mean every single one, and not a leaf left standing, much less a flower bud.
I don't need a license to carry a side arm in Florida, as of about 11 hours ago, but I can't kill a deer on my own property out of season. I can shoot you, if you come on my property (Stand your ground, a man's castle, etc. ) But I can't kill Bambi for eating my crops.
I'm gonna start killing them, and dumping their stinking carcasses out on the road, maybe that'll get the county to send the grader along to clean up the washouts and washboards that have been shaking the cars to pieces since December.
Sounds like you could use a few of these guys.

Sounds promising.
The hospital is trying to get my sweetie to shift into training and admin... and away from being an actual chaplain. She's resisting. I think if they get too insistent, she'll retire instead. Although she's tempted by the money, and how it might facilitate our Family Compound dream...
Past my bedtime. See all you galoots tomorrow.

Morning guys, The coffee pot was all set up and all I had to do was flip the switch. Not quite the same as brewed on the stove but I will take what I can get and not complain tooo much.![]()

Mornin' Bobby. I'd rather have switch flippin' coffee - stovetop always tasted burnt to me. Speaking of which, I brought a pound of my roasted Timor beans to Des Moines, so it's time to get roasting again. This time, I'll do a batch of Sulawesi Kalossi beans. Yum!
You wake up way too early. I haven't even started dreaming at 4:30AM
Morning Fred, I was awake before 2 am I just wasn't ready to get up but the pain just kept on and I finally gave in got up and took some meds. I don't post as early as I used to, no one is paying attention to the pub in the early morning hours any more.

Morning All,
52F and sunny here now. Headed for 75. Stopped by a friend's house y'day on one of my errands, and he's convinced me to take an afternoon off sometime soon to go out on his new Tolman powerboat. Looking forward to it... I'm spending way too little time on, or even near, water.
Hope everyone has a stupendous day!

Still a nice, useful looking boat (at 20ft?). I wonder how they would handle Lake Michigan.
Those Tolman skiffs are pretty sweet. Fred I've gone down that rabbit hole years ago and from everything I've found for their size they're a good boat in a riled up sea. You'll be mushing along at 8 or 10 knots and wishing you were somewhere else but you'll probably make it home. They were designed for semi protected waters in Alaska basically the inlets and straights where people live and need a year round skiff to get to town. And they'd be all right for a quick shot off shore a little ways on a nice day for some halibut fishing. I actually saw one for sale near here not long ago but it looked like it'd been slapped together and not well maintained. Lots of DIY jobs out there some good some not so much
Kinda reminds me of a Bartender..... NO! NOT AMBER!
How do you roast your coffee beans, Fred?
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Fred just stares at them for a few minutes, and they give up, and roast themselves.
Carter caught a scorpion today, brought it to me in her hand and said "Do we have scorpions around here?" I told her to put it in a bottle and we'd send it to bobby with some North Florida hootch for his anniversary....
Sorry, I stepped out to fetch a new battery for the Scion. I find staring, even glaring at them takes far too long, and yields an uneven roast. (thank you, leftness)
I use a pair of vintage air (popcorn) poppers. I had one, and found another on ebay. The old ones are far superior to the fresh, new ones - rather like us older guys. They have higher wattage in the heaters - again... like us, and they hold up to the high temps far longer than the newer ones - okay, maybe not like us on that.
I no longer roast indoors, because it stinks, and plugging the popper directly into a wall outlet is a bit too intense. I roast outdoors with the popper plugged into a 16ga 50 foot extension cord. That seems to provide enough power loss to roast 2.6 ounces of beans in about 11 minutes, depending on ambient air temperature, plus I get a more even roast in that time than I would in the 4-1/2 minutes it takes plugged directly into the outlet.
2.6 oz at a time?
So this it basically a weekend endeavor?
Hey Fred, what gave you the thought of using the long cord for the popper? I guess if it works for you.

Lefty, the scorpion goes in Mezcal not Tequila. Just so you know.
