    Default Trump's sendoff

I've seen no coverage, which is okay by me.

Anyone know how many showed up?
Hope the door hits him on the way out.

I didn't see it, but my wife said that when Trump was making his farewell speech in front of AF1, the audience was very small and mostly family.
Hope for the best, but plan for the worst.

Looked like about 30-50 at the White House and 2-300 at Andrews.

I watched the (now former) first family board the plane while music played: "YMCA" followed by "Tiny Dancer". If there was an admiring crowd of well-wishers present, I didn't see them.

He asked for a military parade.
He a small marching band, standing still, and a couple of cannon.

And here I had been hoping for a replay of the Anwar Sadat parade.

Didn't visually note the size of the crowd, but it sounded "small" in reaction to his farewell speech, which was a nonstop string of lies. Just proved the usual evaluation, "if his lips are moving he's lying".

I watched it this morning. It was wonderful to see him and his pathetic family board the plane to fly off into exile. Speech was BS but rather restrained and short for him. Very small crowd. He did get his 21 gun salute, though, so he was happy.

He couldn't tell the truth if his tongue was notarized.

I hope he was disappointed by the no shows.

The crowd at Andrews Base was reported to be around 200 although the cameras never panned the entire group. His rambling, bumbling speech was loaded with usual superlatives. He wished luck to the new administration but never mentioned Biden"s name. At one point he was interrupted by the crowd chanting USA a few times. He hesitated for them and then wrapped it up. I was waiting for Nixon's V for victory, but it never came.

The only coverage I saw was a small piece in the NYT app that just itemized and corrected the usual stream of falsehoods coming out of his mouth. No mention of crowd size, actual contents of the speech (maybe it was just a stream of falsehoods?), or anything else.

He said he’ll “be back in some form”

What material he provides. “Mahhhhhm, some form of Trump is all over my shoes, how do I get it off?”

Don't the Proud Boys, psuedo-nazis, and various militia groups already provide security protection for Trump?

Serious question, I believe the answer is yes, if the impeachment results in a conviction in the Senate the SS protection is pulled along with pension, staff, postage and office expense benefits. They can then fend for themselves.

" the SS protection CAN BE pulled along with pension, staff, postage and office expense benefits. "

Apparently, the Senate decides what penalties are appropriate.

There was NOBODY to see him off at the White House via Marine One ( literally, an empty lawn ). Crowd at Andrews was about 300, they had made space for over 1,000. Jim Acosta of CNN commented it was the smallest rally he had ever seen for Drumph. 20 people on the tarmac to greet him as AF1 touched down in FL. There were lines of people around Mar-A-Lago to cheer him on when he drove in, however, FWTIW.

That will end if senate convicts, and this gives them one more reason to, if there are any fence sitters.

I wonder what HE thought of his 'crowd'?

I can't imagine the household staff ever heard Trump's mouth utter "please", "thank you", "hello", "good morning!", "good night -- see you in the morning!", "how's your [husband|wife|kids] doing?", "have a great [weekend|vacation]!", or any of the any other social niceties that knit people together.

No surprise that the staff wasn't there to see him off. Plus they had work to do.
