Ok, forget the Gin stuff and let's move on to something else. Coffee and Makers Mark this morning. The sun is shining and I am still breathing so I guess that is good enough.
Have a good day my friends.

Not gonna dip into the whiskey yet. I've got toddler duty this afternoon, as it's Spring Break here. Gotta stay sharp to stay ahead of the damages with those two!!
Hope everyone has a marvelous day!!

Morning David, I have to be able to get out to my shop today, the front wheel on the green mower broke. This time it is the left one last summer it was the right side. I can't get down to get it off but I think I can show my wife how to do it. You would think when you spend the dollars that green paint cost the wheels would at least stay together.![]()

Mornin guys
Bobby I guess when they say "nothing runs like a Deere" its still technically true as long as it starts, broken wheel and all?
Enjoy that sun shine anyways..
Made it up to the shop, showed my wife how to use the floor jack and raise it up. pulled the grease cup off and removed the C clip and the wheel came right off. I don't know how they put those wheels together but there is no sign of a weld or anything holding that center section in. You think they used super glue? I could weld it back together but I paid for a better machine than that or so I thought.

That is what gripes me David, This is not a big box store model.

When we bought this place in 2016 I sold my ride on as it was over kill for this place. I bought a new Honda push mower, with drive assist or whatever its called. Pretty new yet but so far so good. Looks like we may have a deal on our new place over on the island. I think I'll be ok with the Honda push mower? We'll see how it goes. If I elect to get ride on again I think I'll take my time and look for an older higher end one that is rebuildable.
I had a John Deere LX178 for over thirty years, belts and blade were all it ever needed. I gave it to Larry and it is still running.
The man at the JD place said that 178 was bullet proof and I would say he is right. They stopped making them because they wouldn't die and that was hurting sales. They had a water cooled Kawasaki engine and I think that was the life of those things.

Thanks for that Bobby I'll keep that model in mind. Kawasakis do seem to be highly regarded.
My last ride on was a zero turn Snapper. I think the mechanics of the thing were pretty good. But I had a difficult relationship with that damn 20 hp Briggs !
My yard is a bit big for an old fart to use a push mower. I did mow it a few times as a 13 year old but that was long ago. I have tried to talk my wife into selling this place and getting something smaller. I guess basically she told me where to put that thought.

That song seems to fit where I am at today. Not a love life but my love for life. Cancer threw down the challenge, I took a fighting stance and said bring it on. Round three and I am way behind in points, every time I knock it down it gets back up I am just about out of fight.

How's your weather gents? In the past half hour I've gone from +10C to 0C .Wind came from west @60K, Heavy rain, sleet, hail, rolling thunder, then snow, then big snow. Can't see the road 60' from window, 2" on the ground and staying. Was out in the shop in t-shirt earlier today thinking about putting the snow blowers away and getting out the lawn tractors. Ha, I bet that's what did it for me! Like most wimmens , it's best not to underestimate or mess with Mother Nature....![]()

In my front yard there is that monster sweet gum tree, my uncle and I planted that in about 1959, after my old aunt was facing her final days she would sit on the front porch swing and ask me, Bob did you ever think that tree would get that big.

I imagine it was some sort of "press fit" connection.
I can't use the language I would like on this forum, to describe my interactions, and problems with John Deere.
Suffice it to say, if these tractors (one a tractor, the other a lawn mower/tractor) had not come with the house, they wouldn't be here. I HATE John Deere products.
You know what I hate more than John Deere products?
Where's my posts?
Something smells funky around here.
Which post is that?

Morning All,
Our day will mostly be a memorial for my sweet m'in-law. We're finally getting around to her ashes. Ceremony at a pretty local spot, then a small get-together.

I will get my new wheel Friday or Tuesday and they will mount the tire for free. It will only cost me $90. not counting the 80 miles of driving to get it. That is a lot of beer and Tequila money down the exhaust pipe

Fred I am so happy you are pleased with your new knives. You have a really good taste for pretty knives. What ticks me off is that the last time the wheel broke they were going to charge me $80 till they saw I was still under warranty and then they just charged for mounting the tire. This time it was supposed to be just the dealers cost and free mounting. I think I can still add, price of the rim must have went up ten dollars or I am paying ten for the mounting. What ya gonna do?

I have never seen another lawn tractor wheel come apart like the ones on this tractor, in fact the guy at the shop said he never seen such a thing.
