I read about this this morning. One trainer stacking the odds with the officials in his pocket. I watched the jockey of the favourite to win haul back on reins and throw the race.

I know very little about Oz, but I do know a good deal about how Murdoch operates in the US - which is why I chimed in.

He is literally ripping our country apart.

Labor's "new working class" were critical to the party's New South Wales election victory, a former Labor strategist says.Key points:

    • One third of the nearly 400,000 public sector workers in NSW are women
    • A number of the seats flipped by Labor have high numbers of these workers
    • A former Labor strategist says the group is seen as the biggest supporters of the red side of politics

Analysis of census data showed the largest proportion of public sector workers live in west and south-west Sydney, and the Central Coast.
Commenting on the party's wins in the seats of Camden, Parramatta, Riverstone, Penrith and East Hills on Saturday night, Kos Samaras, a former Victorian Labor deputy campaign director, said public sector workers were the dominant cohort in those seats.
A third of the nearly 400,000 public sector workers across the state are women, and a third are aged under 35, Mr Samaras told the panel on the ABC's election coverage on Saturday night.
"They have effectively now become, across the country, but particularly in New South Wales and Victoria, Labor's new working class," he said.

The appeal to authority fallacy is the logical fallacy of saying a claim is true simply because an authority figure made it. This authority figure could be anyone: an instructor, a politician, a well-known academic, an author, or even an individual with experience related to the claim's subject.

G'day people! Thought I'd drop in for a squizz. Long time not visuals!

Looks like biggie's back, although much reduced apparently: Now only an appendage on some nondescript object of unknown origin for for attaching unknown things to.

Howzat anyway? Wall to wall Labor on the mainland now!! Biggie must be maximally conniptive!

And will the Aston byelection spell the end for Mr Potato Head?

I thought I'd drop in. I saw something that reminded me of Plessner's punk music thread.

Not much wooden boat action for me these last few years since Peter passed away. Just had 20cm of sigmoid colon removed (not cancer!) six weeks back, and hoping to get back into the garden soon. (And clean up the shed!) Still a bit knocked out by the surgery, although it was 100% successful.

Looks like everything's ticking along as per usual here, unfortunately with the 'retread' already mentioned. I've joined #NAFO on Twitter to $h*#post putler supporters, as I know a Ukrainian landscape architect who's had several of her works destroyed by the ruZZians in Donbas. I have a friend in St Petersburg with a Dragon, and he says his fellow ruZZians are almost all zombies and he's sad and frightened!

Anyway, here the voters are destroying the nutso right wing in Australia eh! AND STILL THEY DON'T LEARN! Just read that Moira Deeming hasn't been expelled from the Victorian Liberals! They're all set to lose the Aston byelection.

It all reminds me of something...

    Have a quick recovery Duncan.
Re the Libs, a bit like an alcoholic, got a way to go down before they begin to rebuild I'd say. Many are writing them off and predicting a split. RW to the Nats but I don't think so, at least in the short term. But the Nats may abandon the Libs of course as bad company in the short term.

    Who’s the media now?

    369,000 views in 3 days.
I think Murdoch has some unwanted competition whose unfair advantage in the business of news is reporting on facts that other news outlets seem not to be interested in chasing up. Investigative journalism is so pase’ for most of the major outlets but it certainly looks as though there is a demand for it and I reckon the same heat will be turned on Labour as they settle in. Irrespective of who is in office it should always be a focus for medi to keep the bastards honest!

Anyone within either party who wants to expose corruption will send their insights friendlyjordies way as he now has established his YouTube Chanel as an essential service to the Australian media landscape, filling the void left by the drift away from the sort of media of the 60’s 70’s and early 80’s when the rot began to really sink in.

Did anyone view his episode where he replayed recordings of Porkbarilaro bragging about his pork barrel success stories, even laughing at his Nick name of Porkbarrelaro!
What is a classic of that scoop is the fact that last year Baralaro instigated a successful legal challenge of defamation against Jordan over his accusing Barrelaro of wearing the nickname as a badge of honour. Friendlyjordies has consistently gained the upper hand in his ongoing coverage of Barilaro’s tenure of public office. The result abject humiliation and exposing of corruption that the public’s has a right to be informed of.

It will be interesting to see if Shanks gets shanked for his recent illegal posting of the Barilaro recording. I haven't checked the penalties, but I imagine gaol is probably on the cards.

Yeah much the same with us. We got in early because Kez was having her hip replacement on Thursday. It all went well and she's home taking it easy.

You've fallen into the orbit of some rather unsophisticated and/or senile debaters. Some might say master baiters, but I wouldn't go that far. You don't name yourself, let alone any source, yet you want to hold others to standards you won't or can't attain yourself... so you attack the individual? That pigeonholes you perfectly.

Some on here, like old Jeffrey and Dunc - me mate, know full-well my background and, to a degree, my experience. Jeff's done exactly the same thing himself in the past, with his union and commie politician contacts... but now that he hasn't got the energy to stitch together a coherent argument, he's fallen to the level of "bignoting" slurs and encouraging others to not engage... simply because he can't win a single point, let alone an argument. I'm not sure why you fall to the same level, perhaps just general ignorance of our local politics? Best of luck just stirring with slurs.

Give her best wishes from the right please. Speedy recovery smoke on its way.

My wife had her hip replaced last year (and the wife before her had both hips and both knees done... one of the knees twice). I take no credit for any of the damage. Tum (my second, and hopefully final, wife) was back in the restaurant kitchen within days, much to my disgust.

No wonder the watermelons are silent. Even the ABC handed the Greens bloke his arse today....

    https://www.abc.net.au/news/2023-03-...oice/102152210

That article is so skewed when it comes to the main points elsewhere in QANDA last night that it isn't funny. Full disclosure - my double major in my first degree was Economics and politics - which included a major element of Australian media studies (and I subsequently ran a public media company for a while). Editorial bias featured in the media studies (as it did when running the company - although I hasten to add, not in its application, but in ensuring it wasn't there).

That article I have linked above is a perfect example of editorial bias. It should, along with the recording of the TV show, become standard fare in media / politics studies. They left out the idiotic bit by the Greens senator about solving the world's problems with "diplomacy", and that's where he got skewered. They left out the key message by Jacinta. Lousy (but effective... for the left) journalism by the ABC.

Don't worry, I don't expect comments from any watermelons... you can't win that argument, so stay silent.

As I said before, may the least corrupt win. Us punters aren't really given much of a choice. I used to call them a defacto aristocracy.

I learned a very long time ago Ian that bothering with any post of yours is a zero sum game, and a complete waste of my time. If you have such wonderful qualifications then your political friends might like some of your advice, they seem to need it.
