Local pharmacy is selling bulk tea tree oil as a hand sanitiser. Better than bleach for your skin.

Their own initiative, they bought bulk some weeks ago. But soap and water is better.

It would be fun to tell them the date is only stamped on the last sheet of 1 roll per pack.

ANZAC day commemorations cancelled. But I'll turn up at our Cenotaph at 5.30am and I reckon a few more will too.

Byron Bay Blues Fest cancelled. Apparently that's a loss of $57M to the NSW north coast's businesses. Quite a hit!

MONA is shut until further notice. Football crowds banned. No sailing allowed*. I don’t seem to be affected.

If you are close enough to catch it sailing then the protest hearings would be more concerning.

Will our trucated and half assed broadband network and electricity supply cope with all those workers and school kids working from home, let alone the movie downloads from those stuck at home with nothing to do. I have buffering problemshere anyhow, Netfix has been encouraging me to sign up but I doubt my feed would cope even if I wanted it. You never know, books may make a comeback!

When I was 10, my mother had to go to Melbourne for a big operation and I was palmed off onto my married elder sister, who had been a teacher till she married, and they lived on a farm at the back of whoop whoop. I suppose there must have been a school somewhere that other kids went to, though I never saw any other kids or a school bus: but it was thought sufficient that she should teach me for the three months. I think we did about an hour a day, and for the rest of the day I was off some where on the farm with bro in law. There was no power connection available, so I learned to split wood for the stove and the copper. Baths once a week. Lighting Tilley lamps at night. Trips to the dunny with a hurricane lantern.
Hard life for my sister, but a boy’s paradise.
On return to school I didn’t appear to have missed much.

Here you go... my sister in law works for Bunnings on a telephone enquiry desk. Yesterday she had a customer wanting a new gun safe, because ‘I need to move my guns upstairs, where they’re more accessible’.

No. I’m sure self defence is still legal, but it’s weird that you’d be thinking you’d need it.

My daughter is living in Phoenix Arizona and I asked her how things were there. DJ is her doctor husband.
Coronageddon has hit here all the stores are emptying out. Trump is lying about having tests available but it’s bull****. DJ is a bit pissed about the medical response and trump’s lies

Trump has looked very confused so far. Of course he is, this is the first crisis he has encountered which wasn’t started by him, on Twitter.

And Mitre 10 and lots of others. Why not? They’re a legal product and a requirement of owning a gun.

DFAT have advised al Austrlians OS to get home as quickly as they can, while they can. Seats are drying up as schedules are cancelled and countries are closing borders.

But evidently rich persons are flying into NZ as a safe haven, in private jets. One presumes they are tested? Or just turned around would be better. Don't let them leave their planes, they could be infected.

Of course it could be just a furphy…………………..

Just got an email from a medical friend that works in a large Melbourne public hospital.
188 showed up to be tested in one day.
    12 were tested (see guidelines).
1 positive, with a US contact.

Those figures look quite encouraging Jeff.
At least here, there’s some other lurgy going around, cough, sore throat, minor sniffle, lethargy. We’ve had it for 8 days. No vicious body aches and pains, only slight fever one night.
Might easily make you anxious, that sort of thing.

Thinking about those figures again. Not encouraging.
Somewhwere, sometime soon, they need to test every patient that thinks they may have it.
If they had done this at just this one station, it would either confirm low case rate and support guideline testing OR
confirm community spread. They have to do this soon.

You did but I don't think you're sorry at all

When I read the story of your sister-in-law at Bunnings, I was surprised to see any mention of gun safes at Bunnings. So I looked it up and there they are - six models! To my shame, I spend about half my life in and out of Bunnings and mistakenly thought I knew every product they sell. I may even have seen gun safes there but not realised what they were. Hence my comment.

Reports this morning about testing in Vic. A few 'oops' moments but the pick-up rate less than 1%.
