I see that our happy clapping PM reckons he'll fix the wages problem after he announces a budget surplus. After years of crying poor despite record company profits, "now is not the time", they decide now is the time? I don't think so. Missed that bus.

Then there's the fires, seemingly so 'normal' they've fallen off the front page. The tragedy of the Mt. Tomar gardens, the fire threat to a coal mine and two power stations, earthquakes in the Hunter region, and the realisation that some areas burnt may never return to their previous vegetation patterns, particularly previous wet forest which may regrow as eucalyptus woodland.

    Interesting times.

So, if we had a government that cared about anything other than themselves, this is what would happen:

Australia, as a whole, just had it's hottest day on record, yesterday. It was only 25 here on our tiny sliver of southern coast, but 38 today, and 40 odd on Friday.

Canavan was on AM this morning talking up new coal mines………………. Didn't wish to acknowledge climate change, and said Aus has always had bushfires…………….
Well after the european invaders took over certainly.

On December 9, NSW Rural Fire Service Commissioner Shane Fitzsimmons tweeted that fires had burnt about 2.7 million hectares — an area greater than Wales.
    Yes, Wales, the country.
Or if sport is more your thing, one hectare is approximately the size of a soccer pitch.
Between early September and the end of November, 220,000 hectares had been burnt in Queensland

This really is Scomo's General Percival moment.
"Spring 2019 saw the highest fire weather danger as measured by the Forest Fire Danger Index (FFDI), with record-high values observed in areas of all states and territories," the report stated.
The FFDI takes into account recent rainfall, a drought index, relative humidity, air temperature and wind speed to give a value that reflects how dangerous a fire is expected to be once it gets going.
It's what you see represented on the roadside fire danger signs: low, high, very high, extreme, catastrophic (code red in Victoria).
"More than 95 per cent of Australia by area had spring-accumulated FFDI values that were very much above average (highest 10 per cent of years), including almost 60 per cent of the country that was highest on record for spring," the report stated

You know he's still refusing to meet that group of ex fire commissioners? I think the concept clashes with his religious guidance. So is the actual PM the hillsong pastor?

This PM and government are not capable of dealing with this and its causes because of the it's religious RW. And their god seems to have conspicuously gone missing. Again.

The secrecy surrounding the PM’s location is bizarre. Leaving the country in the midst of a national emergency with bushfires out of control and soaring temperatures threatening to elevate the danger to another level altogether is, in itself, an odd choice of timing. Shrouding his destination and the length of his absence in mystery only adds to the sense that we are in the hands of a very peculiar individual indeed. The man is already copping serious condemnation for clearing off, why conceal his destination as well?

I’m trying hard to think of any other world leader who has simply disappeared from his country at any time, let alone when that country is in the crisis we’re currently experiencing. We’ve never had a PM who buggered off when there was a national disaster. They’ve all had their flaws, some of them major, but nobody ever buggered off and left the country rudderless and burning.

Rumours have placed Morrison in Hawaii, enjoying a summer break with his family. More rumours suggest Hawaii was merely a stop over in a much longer journey to New York, where his Pentecostal mentor, Hillsong’s Brian Houston, has just opened a church in a multi-million dollar property recently acquired by Hillsong in Manhattan. I couldn’t possibly comment. Well, actually, I could.
    So where is he?

We may not know where he is but we can sleep soundly knowing that his church has upgraded their security via a government grant.

On the Drum the panel are dissembling about the PM's locations. They know I think but will not say.
The hillsong connection really is not appropriate.

Tony's sister says "We've got fires? So we always have fires………." and he's been out fighting them it seems.

I don't see any problem with the PM being away. He's completely useless when he's here - what difference does it make? At least we don't have to watch him pretending that he cares - about anything.

True. Meanwhile 2 firefighters are dead after a truck roll over near Sydney and possibly 40 homes destroyed.

Rumours have abounded that Mr Morrison is in Hawaii, which his office denies. At the demonstration, a police officer read the 10-year-old girl her rights: “I warn you that should you fail to comply with my direction, you may be arrested. Force may be used,” he said. “Do you understand, Izzy?”

    “Yes,” she replies.

The girl moved away from the house with her father, but later called the police "cowards".

"We weren’t doing anything wrong - they’re being cowards,” she said. “Scott Morrison isn’t even here to say anything, he’s escaped the country.”

It appears that under the Common Law definition of religion Aboriginal spiritual beliefs do not qualify. So Indigenous beliefs won't be protected by the new laws (how convenient for mining companies!!) - but if your a spotty white kid claiming to be a Jedi - you bet!!!

And if an atheist manufacturer of widgets refuses to employ god bothers on religios grounds? Which of course begs the question of why any persons of a religious bent would be applying?

If you don't want to dispense morning after pills in a secular society, either don't become a pharmacist, or move to non-secular country (there are plenty of them out there and many could do with skilled pharmacists).

Seems to me that the religious legislation is a complete dog as amongst other strange provisions it allows any religious group to bad mouth any other, but there's still no word about athiests.
