Hallam the ALP have been inpower for close to 20 years. For their own health they need to be out of power for a term to rtid themselves of thnhangers on, political debts, obligations stemming from corporte and other largesse etc. And to remove their own dead wood.
Trouble is that Guy was damaged goods from his previous posting as planning minister. Their best candidate for leader lost his state seat last time round. But if they are going to change horses they'd better do it soon.
I'm not up with the factions in the state libs, but the religious right has been hard at work recently. If they don't get it right the ALP might 'win' by default, with a group of independents and Greens on the cross bench.

So scotty from marketing was swearing himself into various ministerial portfolios, on the advice of Porter, without the participation or knowledge of the GG? So much for procedure and the Constitution… Did he intend to take them all over, bar Porters of course?.
"Scott Morrison secretly swore himself in as resources minister and ultimately used the power to roll his own frontbencher, Keith Pitt, over a plan to drill for gas off the New South Wales coast.
In an extraordinary revelation, former deputy prime minister Barnaby Joyce has confirmed that Mr Pitt, then the resources minister, was “shocked” to learn in December of 2021 that Mr Morrison had been secretly sworn in as a second minister in his own portfolio.

………..and they said that Rudd was micro-managing! Autocratic tendencies? Power and controll while trashing due process, the Morrison Liberal Government will be looked on with deserved distain as one of Australia’s worst. Intact fact the whole lot from Abbott on were a farce, destructive to the National good.

…..and there's more……….. Trumpian ambitions, he could dismiss all the other ministers………… if the party room allowed him to stay in office………….and they did.
As for his various justifications, he's a liar.

They are all tainted and should not be allowed to disgrace the Houses with their presence.

And talking of tainted, one J Howard is more concerned about the prospect of by-election than the morality of Morrisons actions. But them Howard was never too strong on morality, depite his actions re guns. That was an election winning political action on his part.

BTW, re that former Tassy Premier's statue, the one who broke into a morgue to steal an Aboriginal's head.
Leave the statue but remove it's head, and change the signage appropriately. Put the head on a pike on the top of the Tasman Bridge.

The only decent thing Morrison did in his entire political career was sign himself in as Resources Minister so that he could prevent Pitt and the other FWIT Nationals from drilling for oil off our coast! Even megalomania has an upside! It's an ill wind .....

So as it turns out two Murdoch journalists knew all along about Morrisons extra Ministries but have kept it from their publications and from the Australian Public!! What a joke that makes of media being part of the process of accountability!

I doubt the story from the Murdoch journalists. Murdoch staff are notoriously dishonest and will do anything for a headline. They'd have bragged about this knowledge long ago if they'd ever had it.

Interesting to note that the question of who was responsible for giving the go ahead for passengers to disembark the Ruby Princess on March 18, 2020 still remains unanswered. What is now apparent is Morrison was secretly took on the health portfolio on March 14 a few days before.................passengers disembarked March 18.......there was an enquiry......one now presumes it was a waste of time because the enquiry was in the dark as to who was responsible for the health portfolio and we get SMorrison saying this!!!!!

Ruby Princess inquiry chief's questioning of crying health worker over coronavirus outbreak 'out of line', PM says

Knowing full well he was withholding vital information!

Ruby Princess inquiry chief's questioning of crying health worker over coronavirus outbreak 'out of line', PM says - ABC News

What does this say about due process? and Morrison himself? Is Morrison legally exposed for misleading the enquiy? Obstruction of Justice? Or other accountability issues?

Well there's a parliamentary enquiry, there should be a Royal Commission and there's this"NSW Police are conducting a separate, criminal investigation into the circumstances surrounding the Ruby Princess's arrival in Sydney."
Question is which Health Minister made the decision not to quarantine the ship, and on what grounds……
People want to know, and should. NONE of this should be swept under the carpet and I expect some answers to questions in parliament might be examined as well……...

Well there is 'power of positive thinking new age / business / success' bla bla bla belief system mixed in with the prosperity doctrine all supported by interpretation of selective biblical verses. 'God's favour will be upon him' is definitely part of it. That's why he had a platform. People who are success stories always get the favour of god treatment and get a platform the preach. Losers...... not a chance.

Not politics on the surface, but certainly planning.
The forecast return of La Nina in a more severe form around October. Think Brisbane floods.
Governments at all levels, and the citizens they govern will have to face up to the reality that where they live may no longer be viable.

It is certainly telling! One has to wonder if this is evidence of a tipping point being reached and from now it is a series of cascading follow on changes. Tragic as it is it will be very interesting to see how it panns out over the next six months and what gives after that........a permanent or much more frequent El Nina Pattern in the coming years is what we are likely to experience.

On topic; Interesting bit of news on the artesian basin. Since the mid 89’s there has been a rehabilitation program involving re capping bores to save water wastage. Added to this is the benefits from the recent floods and high rainfall with the result of springs flowing in the outback in places they have never been seen before also revealing new species.

So why would the GG not record in his list of appointments the swearing in of ‘President’ Morrison to portfolios when he categorically stated he had no reason to believe they were to be kept a secret??

    https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-08-...e=abc_news_web

Scott Morrison's secret appointments nowhere to be found in reports about Governor-General

Governor-General David Hurley's busy schedule of public events is on display for all to see.
    Key points:

    • The Governor-General's official program, as well as the Office of the Official Secretary to the Governor-General's annual reports, are available publicly
    • The Office of the Official Secretary to the Governor-General is an independent agency
    • However, there is no reference to Scott Morrison's appointments to five ministries in the Governor-General's Program or annual reports

A quick glance through the online Governor-General's Program reveals plenty of public activities — from formal engagements to meetings and phone calls with government officials.
Ordinarily, when a minister is appointed to an office at a swearing-in ceremony, virtual or in person, this is also listed in his program.
But the appointment of Scott Morrison to five secret ministries is nowhere to be found.

Imteresting piece on Aus's fuel supplies being cut by 90% in the event of conflict in the Sth China Sea. Having our supposed 'strategic rserves' held in the US will not help, especially if Aus decides not to become involved.
Ten wasted years could cost us all dearly in ways we never thought of.
And then there's the skilled worker shortage. And as for apprenticeships, in the last 5 years only 2 out of 5 have been completed.

Scomo's multiple ministries. I wonder how far up and down the PS tree the enquiry will go, let alone in the political sphere of the LibNats. And he did it with Porter, who told him it was legal, in on the plan. He has questions to answer as well.

Not sure if it has been mentioned; the cashless card was meant to reduce crime and alcohol related violence. But it only went up in areas where the card was trialed.
The Libs are crying out that if Labour remove it crime will increase - based on absolutely nothing.

Based on absolutely nothing should be their freaking motto.
