Power white (neutral) to white motor lead.
Power Black (hot) to one of the switch leads.
Second switch lead to red motor lead.
    Ground to ground

Never heard of a switch with one wire. A switch breaks one wire into two.

See? The switch breaks one wire into two. The whole point of a switch.

sure the switch has two wires, one of those wires goes to the motor, it’s already wired together, as a mater of fact the switch and motor are manufactured as one unit; and the other wire coming from the switch which is up to me to connect to the power source is black

    Exactly, you've got it!

edit; was the noise a bit like a horn honking? (That's the usual noise for a motor wired incorrectly)

i would think that the red is hot and the black neutral. keep tryin different combinations until it works.

So, you were only giving part of the info.

    I'd try:
Power source black to switch black.
Power source white to motor white.

    Ignore the red.

Pictures would be very helpful given your history of leaving out critical info.

Red is typically the hot side of one switch, or on switch position. Like a three-way switch. So, black is, " hi power," and red is, " low power." Put another way, power goes into switch as one black; power leaves switch as black or red depending on switch position.
