Folks:
I am searching for either purchase or rental live aboard options in the Washington DC or New York City vicinity. I expect it will be several months before I know my new location. Can anyone direct a west coast river rat to some resources around the Potomac or Hudson?

Check with Capital Yacht Club. It is down town and a very large percentage of liveaboards. Maybe a chance at some not so good shape boat that a little work or maybe one in decent shape avaliable.

My wife, daughter, Newfoundland dog, and I lived on our sailboat at the Gangplank Marina in Washington, DC for a couple years. I believe they still accept liveaboards. It's right next to the Capital Yacht Club along the Washington Channel by water and Water St/Maine Ave by land. It's an interesting way to experience Washington, but I'm still a country boy at heart.
