    Hi,

Just wanted to let Mike know he is not alone. Go under the knife tomorrow for a rotator cuff repair on my left shoulder. Left handed also. Stocking up on some old maga and books. Will let you all know how it comes out.

I damaged mine (fairly low-rent strain/inflammation) by repeatedly lifting a 21 pound kidlet at more-or-less arm's length. Then I sealed the deal by moving a brand new dryer into place and installing it. My wife was upstairs and heard my Yelp! from the basement.

No surgery for me though. They've got me on anti-inflammatories and exercises with a threat of likely physical therapy (Don't worry, this will hurt you more than it hurts me

Your most likely problem is too many birthdays. A tear in the supra spinatus (one of the four rotator cuff muscles) won't fix itself. It is usually the first to go. A mechanic has to get in there and fix it. You didn't know you owned a supra spinatus? You will soon.

They are really great at rebuilding shoulders now...I've had both done, one twice, in the last three years.Torn labrums, cuffs, supraspinatalwhatever, acromiplasty, etc..lotsa anchors and drills thru the scope. there are some tissue to bone cinch anchors in trial at present.. Post op, all is still well, and I climb the heck out of my ratlines at 57..Good luck, hope all goes well for you also.CPM machines right afteer surgery, then plenty of therapy..Keepvit moving, and exercising, and you'll dodge infections. Idleness doesn't help healing.

Good luck Bob... they do a much better job of this kind of surgery now than even ten years ago.

    Hi ALL,

Second dAy after surgery. Doing OK. I was at the day surgery hospital for just about five hours. Received a nerve block in the shoulder area. All was great till it wore off about 1 a.m. Friday morn. Had a special harness on shoulder which could be loaded with ice water and some pAin pill every four hours. Literally no pain now as long as I don't use arm to any extent. zjust came back from brfeakfast out. Another pain pill, do my little post surgery exercises, and then settle in with some mags and books. Therapy next Tuesday , imagine thats when the reak owie will be. Thanks all for your best wishes. Donn, no tackle box for awhile, got a lot of cleaning up to do in basement, garage and upper deck of shop.

    More later as we progress

    Bob V.

    P. s. please pardon spelling, trying to type with bad arm.
