The Porsche was "tuned" to put out 32 HP so I'm not sure if slippery would matter much.

Isn't it the case that a car with so few horses to call upon needs to ake the most of each and every one of them?

When I was growing up my dad had an Isabella wagon. Black with red interior. I was pretty young, but I remember it as quirky.

Then I went out with a gal who had a DKW and really learned what "quirky" meant.

    Yes - both were quirky!

A girlfriend had an Isabella coupe. I thought it was pretty cool. Handled OK...sufficient torque and fun to drive. But it always felt heavy....I liked my British cars better.

Here is a very British car and a very rare one-an HAR special with a Jaguar XK engine in a one off chassis.

1952,didn't the XK arrive with the XK120 in 1948?There was an older HAR which I believe was Riley based.

The all Jag motor was introduced in the 1948 XK120. They built 4 & 6 cyl. prototypes in 42-43 but they (I believe) used Standard Motors blocks.

I've read three different hp figures for it... but it is reported to have a top speed of 99mph, which ain't too bad for the era

If we had a virtual WBF car cruise, which of the cars would we like to be driving? I think we may safely assume Peter would find one of the MG's appealing-or maybe an Austin 7 special.

If memory serves, the blower never triumphed. The unmolested factory cars won five races to the best of my knowledge.I just wish the top class at Le Mans this year had more than one competitor.

I think there might be sound reasons for overlooking the EXP-8 when discussing Blower Bentleys, they didn't see the Bentley factory until after the race they were intended to win (and did) .They also differed in that the forced induction wasn't of the same variety as the previous versions-having said that it was good to have a British car winning.

Does anyone know anything about that particular (SU) carburetor?
Is it a Norman? It looks huge from here.

Thinking about things that WOB approved of, his last car was a Morris 1000.

I LOVED mt Morris 1000....wish I still had it! A friend had a Minor pick-up that he used to race in local club events. 'Course, it was all 1275 Sprite running gear, but he had a blast with it! Showed up in Road & Track cornering with another friend's MG-B GT in an article about the odd cars you'd find in ICSCC racing years ago. If I find any of my old pics I'll post 'em.

    Thank you for that.
I certainly don't recognise it other than it resembles an SU, but I have never seen a "big" SU.
(I'm still hoping to see one of the elusive 3" S.U. manufactured by Norman I think, for their superchargers)
