Back to photos- these two were taken at the VSCC Derbyshire trial on the 1st March.
The 1921 GN (for Robert!) belongs to Peter kite, and not only was it the oldest car competing, but it was the overall winner, and cleared every hill.
The pale blue 1938 Allard is a rare beast indeed, belongs to Dr Jonathan Ross, and won the standard short wheel-base class.DSCN0642 (2).jpgGN 2[4457].jpg

Bummer! One would have hoped for another 110 years...but that might be too much to ask.

To be clear, the Allard is lovely, but...

Oh, my goodness. That is THE car, and THE way I'd drive it. Well, with some drifting thrown in when it was flat and twisty... The front fenders just... Well, suffice to say I couldn't ask for anything else in a car.

The good news is, my Wife loves them, too. She even said I could buy one.

Next step, make a million dollars for the car kitty...

For the record, this is EXACTLY how I'd treat mine, if there are any childless donors reading this.

Hear! Hear! I love seeing cars (and boats) being used for what they were designed for! Went to the '79 LBGP and on Saturday before the race they had a "vintage" race with Dan Gurney driving his old Porsche F1, Sterling Moss in an Aston, Phil Hill in his Ferrari...good stuff!

Gregoire also designed a flat-twin conventionally powered version, which sort of morphed into the Dyna Panhard.

F1 budgets for transporters are a bit bigger these days.

I should have posted this as a quiz- it's a 1954 Jaguar XK 120, with a Pinin Farina body.
Looks in need of a little TLC.

A friend here has an XK120 Zagato undergoing restoration. I have no pix of his actual car.

Well, a trunk latch at least

Actually it looks pretty good, the first stage in aligning the panels is to remove the latching hardware and hold the hinged parts shut with tape. You don't want the latches influencing the final positioning of the doors etc.

Someone thought that was an improvement over this? Taste is an individual thing I guess...

Could be. A friend wrapped his XK 150 around a 3' maple. Worst part was that I was in it when he did so. There are a couple of hooks forward of the trunk on the body that the convertible top fits into. My belt caught in the hook & I came to with my belt hooked on one & my head almost touching the knockoff on the RR wheel. Scariest part was that I was staring straight at said maple when I opened my eyes. We'd bounced back away from it a few feet.

Dunno about Zagato 120s, but they did at least two XK 140s and a few 150s.
    Here's a Zagato 140.

A couple of other coachbuilt XK's.

Different if not necessarily better than the originals.

Hmm, I have to agree. The zagato you can see styling being ripped out of the '50's and thrown into the 60's with some panache , the others are a bit mediocre to me, makes me regretful to see whats lost.
We've had it here before but one of the design houses just utterly butchered an E type, who was that? I can picture it.( Thunderbirds are go)
