Just to get nitpicky - the first one was an 1800S (or maybe E? - hard to see the badge) & the 2nd an 1800ES. Only the first 2 years of production were P1800s & that was because they were built by Jensen or Healey in England. In late 63 (IIRC) production moved to Sweden & they changed it from P1800 to 1800S because it was no longer a prototype. The (much rarer) Healey P1800s were faster - a little more HP & some suspension tweaking.

OK - off the soapbox now!

Don't forget that he pounded the show circuit doing stand-up for years. Many days he'd tape the TV show & immediate drive/fly to Vegas to do a show or 3 their - than right back at it. He was a hard working guy!

Oh - that car isn't his either - just a guest appearance on the JL Garage series.

Why Jay Leno has never touched a dime of his 'Tonight Show' money

    Kathleen Elkins | @kathleen_elk
    Tuesday, 13 Dec 2016 | 9:42 AM ET | 00:56

Comedian and former host of NBC's "The Tonight Show" Jay Leno plays it safe when it comes to money.
From the moment he entered the working world, "I always had two incomes," he explains to CNBC. "I'd bank one and I'd spend one."
And he made sure to spend the smaller amount.
"When I was younger, I would always save the money I made working at the car dealership and I would spend the money I made as a comedian," he says. "When I started to get a bit famous, the money I was making as a comedian was way more than the money I was making at the car dealership, so I would bank that and spend the car dealership money."

Leno continued relying on this strategy even after he started hosting "The Tonight Show" in 1992, even though he reportedly earned as much as $30 million a year at the height of his career.
"When I got 'The Tonight Show,' I always made sure I did 150 [comedy show] gigs a year so I never had to touch the principal," Leno says. "I've never touched a dime of my 'Tonight Show' money. Ever."
Leno, who now hosts CNBC's "Jay Leno's Garage," says his conservative philosophy gives him financial peace of mind.
"So many people get to be the age I'm at now and they've got nothing because they just blew it all," he says. "I put my money in a hammock and say, 'You relax. I'm going to go work.' And when I come back, I put some more money in the pile.
"It sounds ridiculous, but if everything ends tomorrow, I know I'll be fine."
CNBC's "Jay Leno's Garage" airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET.

The front axle looks wrong and the ride height is unbelievable for a competition car.

A dramatic control stop at Bologna during the 1933 Mille Miglia. An official leaps forward to stamp the Howe/Hamilton control disc as their car screams to a halt. Just a few seconds ahead, the Eyston/ Lurani K3 is already on its way to-wards Brescia; the two cars finished first and second in their class and won the team prize.

A neighbor had a Singer when I was a kid. Of course another neighbor had a J2 and a 328. The latter was a project car, and we moved from the neighborhood before its completion.

I think Chapman's first cars were built as Trials cars, not for road racing. The earliest action pictures I've seen of Lotus are of them crawling up mud banks. Quite an evolution to the cars of today.

The second lotus is possibly this one.

An early mkVI that is a bit unusual in that it has a live axle and not the swing arm system that was normally installed.

Not too far removed from the spirit of this thread-here is a site about building a very high quality model of an Alfa P3 http://www.duncanmclarenacorn.com/ca...going-project/ .
