Ford 10? absolutely. But not like that one . I had a Ford consul 1500 cc in Waione when we bought her. Tons of power, but temperamental as the peripherals became tired, and damp.

Simpler is better, except when complicated looks really cool.

There is nothing quite as permanent as a good temporary repair.

Re the Jag motor, I thought so too. The ad does say it had an engine transplant. It looks good in there though.

I googled dumb iron, it is a curved part of the chassis to which a spring shackle is attached.

The Briston 400 has a system where the front end is lubricated by a One shot system, pedal in the floor, the rear end is lubricated bt the differential oil and 2 grease nipples on the front and rear uni joints, so very little servicing required. The differential oil is accessable through a flap in the boot.

Good to see that Jag. The late Kerry Packer used to drive a twin turbo XJS. He had a lot of wheel trouble with it.... it used to chew the centres out of the BBS wheels.

Here's one of the batch of three twin turbos that were built. I believe Kerry only had one, but when the Nissan Godzilla was released... he bought 5 of the 100 or so that came to Oz (although some claim it was only 3).

A dumb iron is a hangover from horse drawn springs.
It was used in a Dennett sprung jinker or sulky.
Off the dumb Iron is a spring shackle , and off that of course the spring.
It gave the softest ride of all suspensions.
But it quite often had a rattle between these components , obviously the car maker has addressed that issue.

Speaking of engine swaps, this MG Midget...

    Has this engine...

    With this result:
    http://www.britishv8.org/mg/briankraus.htm
The first event that the completed RX-Midget competed in was the National Road Autocross in Cumberland, MD. The RX-Midget earned the Competition Car Award for looking good and running in the top 10 all weekend. We managed to beat all the Corvettes and most of the modified AWD Turbo Porsches that cost 10 times what I have in the RX-Midget. Not a bad start!
