I recognize that trim,and the big blue.Does'nt that yacht belong to the russian tycoon who owns Chelsea FC.

Bring Carrina out this weekend,we'll be sailing Munin on sat from 11:00-12:30 and on sun 10:00-2:00.I'll be out for one of those sails.

John McCaw, owner of the NHL’s Vancouver Canucks, was widely reported to have sold the big blue expedition yacht to Paul Allen, the Microsoft cofounder last summer. But there are some who doubt any money actually changed hands and instead believe that Allen unofficially took over her maintenance until a new owner could be found. Either way, the yacht is presently in the hands of a Russian who is said to be close to President Putin. He took her to yards in both Germany and Malta for some refit work, which reportedly included the addition of eight feet to her transom, but as of this writing none of our (reporters) have seen the yacht close up enough to confirm it. Therefore the LOA listed above is the one she had at launch.

The massive blue-hulled yacht carries a 72-foot sailing yacht. Le Grand Bleu is the first private yacht to receive an Environmental Protection Notation from Lloyd’s, certifying that she complies with stringent voluntary guidelines to control pollution."

Yorgie: I had a missadventure on my son's dirtbike (2 broken bones right hand ) and won't be dooin no sailing for a couple weeks.

Sorry about your hand Gert.
I went sailing today(sat) and it was quite exciting.The wind was strong and there were some pretty big waves.The row out of the harbour was fairly difficult but after the sail was raised we had fun.What a seaworthy boat Munin is.We'll be stuck at the dock next weekend for the Vancouver Seafest but the following weekend we'll be back on the water and you're welcome to come along.

what was the wind speed on Sat?

At Pt Atkinson it was blowing 28km/h at noon.I don't know what English bay would have been but I'm sure that it was close to that.I would have felt better with a reef but once we got our weight trimmed("sit on the high side please")we moved along quite nicely.

Does that yacht normally carry a sailboat on the davits on the port side? And a helicopter on the aft deck? If so, I saw her two years ago anchored off Ketchikan, Alaska. I think I have some pictures somewhere at home.

Munin usually shares the same dock as Gert's Carrina at Vancouver Woodenboat show,as well as sharing the same lineage.

Meer,you and any other forum members are welcome to sail Munin.We sail most weekend mornings and some wednesday evenings.Send me a message several days beforehand and I can confirm a sailing.
