My retirement date has been set by the "management", so I am thinking about my boat projects when that happen. I will be using Fela for sure, but I am really looking forward to button up Little Bear and even do some interior improvements.
Lately I have been considering designing some sort of outboard bracket on Little Bear - in case Atomic will breakdown. Recently bought 1959 Mercury Mark 35 AE. It's a 4 cylinder, 35 HP. electric start outboard that I would like to restore and use on Little Bear. So I am looking for an outboard bracket design I could add to the transom. Don't want to cut the transom, especially that the Mark35A is a short shaft motor.

Engine looks amazing for it's age. You gonna paint it up in two pack? Or just a good clean.

That will never be a reliable kicker.
It wants fresh non alcohol gas, for starters.

Thank you lexi.....yes, it will be painted. Just got it so didn't even take the spark plugs out to take a peek inside cylinders or to check compression numbers.
Came from Arizona - so no salt water use

I am thinking of using it as a main motor on Little Bear or on smaller, faster boat I would like to build - like Merry Maid......
Thank you for the info Bruce - writing it down!

Starting to work on projects to get the boat ready for the summer. This year I want little Bear to be my main boat.
    1. Installing position lights + wiring.....( designing a light - as seen here on Fela)

That looks fantastic. Atomic fours are great engines...that is such a cool little boat. Some day when the quarantine is over and I'm up in Puget Sound visiting an old friend (who lives on Jackson Lake) I'd love to see it.

I heard the lakebay marina was purchased by the Recreational Boating Association and Marine Parks Conservancy. Hopefully they can keep it going - it's such a cool spot. Little Bear would look perfect motoring up to get fuel.

Thank you Powerwagon ! Absolutely stop by when you are in the area. Jackson Lake is probably 10 minutes away from where we live.
Had a burst of energy today. Finally drained motor oil - used little oil pump builded in my motor - and pour in 4 quarts of clean one, replaced choke linkage, rearrange battery cables. Want to have the boat in the water for second week of June.

    LBear12.jpg

Need to run wires to position lights, and looking for something to hang the wires. Here is the original one. I was thinking of staple it over a piece of plastic. I want the wires to be tight and straight, not hanging loose......any ideas??

    Nice!
(As a note of pickyness, ..... running lights are USCG approved when using the 'original' type of bulb. Technically speaking, .... putting LED bulbs in running lights that weren't designed for them makes the lights 'not' USCG approved. ....... I know, picky.

Not a bad idea IMO, but aren't you missing a couple clamps there?

Kit works for 3/4 5/8 and 1/2" hoses, only one size hose clamp though. Trying to find a right size clamp turned out to be bery difficult. Went to 3 different stores.....no luck.
Run the motor a little today......turned out that need to run the motor in order for the water to go through. Water pump is in a way. Also need to get an extra on/off valve so i don't need to adjust the volume at the hydrant.
