A quick hit with the belt sander and I must say I'm pleased with the result so far....

Turned out fantastic, much better than the little pieces the plans call for...

She's looking pretty flash! I think I said already, but it calls for more comment: that cap rail is fantastic!

Yeah, I couldn't bear to do what the plans called for, I consider it a horizontal roll bar

I got sick and tired of sanding so decided to take a break from it and start the final fit of the wheelhouse....

She seems to be taking shape quickly. You'll be on the water in no time.

That boat does not seem to have a bad angle . It`s all those curves.

It is that time of year. How to keep building when it is too cold for epoxy jobs. For small items I have been putting them in the car and parking the car in the sun (when there is any). Speeds up the cure very well. We need really big solar ovens for our boats. In any case the cap rail looks great and will cure eventually.

I'm a tad disappointed with some of the joins, especially on the ends where the clear coat really shows up the glue lines, plus there's a spot that exposed a nasty seam when I sanded it down, I just keep telling myself it's not going to matter in the long run.
I am toying with the idea of running along the bad joins with a dremel and a fine cutting wheel, then filling with a suitable colored filler.

I got the wings that go either side of the wheelhouse made and epoxied in place, theoretically they divert any water over the bow back out a freeing port before it reaches the cockpit.

The freeing port was supposed to be a simple slot cut into the hull but I didn't like finishing it like that so i used some of my resin cast fairleads and cut the outer bits off leaving just the sleeve that slots onto the hull, this gives the plywood edges some protection from bumps and scrapes.

A coat of primer to show me any imperfections that need filing, also the rest of the fairleads are epoxied in place.

I spent a fair chunk of today sanding and polishing the stainless rubbing strips, by far the least enjoyable part of the whole build so far I have decided that I don't care anymore and they are as good as they are going to get.
