penn yan help

Over the past couple years I have been helping various forum members with Penn Yan boats. I have supplied copies of catalogs, stain, decals, and even some hardware. I have made a practice of not charging for this and plan to continue helping out with finger lakes boat questions and identificaions. To this end I make this request when I help someone and they wish to do something about it please don't send me a check instead make a donation of thanks in my name to the Finger Lakes Boating Museum, PO Box 676, Penn Yan, NY 14527. Hi Charlie, new to group....
I hope to close on a purchase of a 50's , don't know specific yr but guessing 55-57 Penn Yan 14 ft. Swift "CUT" model which is Rare
the previous owner must have sanded off the Hull Serial # at the Wooden L Bracket at the keel to the Transom.....
Is there any other place that would be stamped with the hull serial # like maybe under the bow just aft of the center Stem ?
Owner has gotten New Number Reassigned by a State Trooper and supposedly Attached it to the Stern , and only way to get it ReTitled

Thanks Charlie, good to know your there. I probably do 3 or 4 a year in my small shop here. Just finished a Trailboat. I like the Penn Yans but soooo many nuts, bolts and screws. sometimes 3 keels and sprayrails. Takes forever getting them back together.
