    Default Best craigs list questions

    part of my add,

It will need a new clutch soon, hence the low price, I have had one quote for $1,200 to replace the clutch, which is the original. It does drive and is ready to test drive now.

In the last day I have had two people ask if it is a standard or automatic. GRRRRRR.

My other favorite question, after putting "Cash only, price is firm, local sales only", "will you take less?" And, "will you bring it Denver (70 miles away) so I can look at it?"

if it doesn't sell tonight I might just abandon it.
In fact, if you can saw a penciled line, apply glue, drive nails, and bring a modest measure of patience to the task, you can build and launch a smart and able craft in as few as 40 work hours. You need not be driven by lack of tools, materials, skills, or time to abandon in frustration a project you conceived in a spirit of pleasurable anticipation.

When I was selling my old Venture17 sailboat a girl called and begged me not to sell it until she could see it.

She got my address and said she would be over on Saturday at 12:00Noon.
At 3:00 I called her to see if she was lost.
She said she never agreed she wanted to look at the boat and was not interested.

But I did sell the boat in 1 week.

Donate it, and deduct it from your taxes. Don't even bother posting anything there-scammers and spammers.

I wish it were still that simple. My first motorbike was a counterfeit; it was a kitbashed honling with a byd bd6 engine, it was a cheap knockoff of a hyfong f8r, in turn a cheap knockoff of a kymco, which was based heavily off a motorini, which is finally a reengined clone of a discontinued honda that had been inspired by a vespa. As is to be expected there was some "interesting" engineering in it. It had a rather involved ivt, in the form of a full variator with some sort of linkage that shifted for you based on torque and rpm. It also had a low rpm (there was a gear reduction before the variator) centrifugal clutch inside the front pulley assembly of the transmission. It had an odd constant velocity carb that had a lot in common with the old SU carbs with the exception that they used a delicate green rubber diaphragm instead of a piston. It was easier to open up the carb in situ than it was to access the sparkplug the latter task I found insurmountable.
It almost made 1960s mercury legs look easy to work on.

I have sold 2 boats, purchased my current boat and few other things via craigslist

It is not a bad way to do business.

I feel the same way. I get free stuff there every month. Often, I can (re-)sell it.
    I hire people from there.
Just use your head when you do use it.
If you sell out of town, use Paypal if you do not have access to a merchant account.

Same here. I've sold 3 boats, 3 cars, 2 tractors, bought two boats and innumerable parts over the years.
There are ways to filter the spam, and common sense filters out the crazies before you give a phone number. Cash only, of course.

Plus it's just good cheap entertainment to read through some of these ads!

    Example of aforementioned entertainment: http://newlondon.craigslist.org/boa/3223241851.html

    That's a drop-dead gorgeous boat.

Foolish, though. I know it's free advertisement, but a total waste of time to think that anyone with $190k is shopping on craigslist.

those are entertaining, and look what I found this morning that is still for sale.

I have wanted one of these for a long time, and I think I just found my b-day present to myself.

At least 25 emails to sell the old engine from the golf cart. The Raritain icemaker gets many looks, but no buyers...Found my dads car on local ebay classifieds.
