good global mapping website - better than google maps

I have used Google maps, and it is good

however looking at the terrain to get an idea of the lay of the land is not easy, hard to see where all the valleys and high ground is

it looks better than google maps in my opinion in finding out the lay of the land

also, it uses ais technology to show where ships are.,,,
yes you can find ships everywhere,, but i use it as a better tool for bushwalking, trekking, hiking etc

I just opened it up and took a look at the jungle area I was trying to get through... Sangkhla Buri to Umphang in Thailand.... and it wasn't as good as Google. May be different elsewhere, but it had nowhere near the resolution and I couldn't find the track I'd found in Google.... then it crashed my 'puter.

As far as I can see this website uses Google Maps -- just overlays its ships data on top.

I have this free app on my iphone.

I do not use it from mapping but it is great for looking at the ships in the area.
