Default restoring an old Mirror Dinghy, advice needed

Hi ,I was given a Mirror Dinghy in serious need of repair. It has no boards in bow or stern and was left unpainted in a leaky shed. I have removed the rotten boards of the hull and now have what I call a boat skeleton, not having experience nor nautical terms.I was given a board to cut a new stern board from but find it very heavy it is solid Ash wood .I don't know what it was made of in the kit. Has anyone any idea? I thought to fix it in place for stability before going further. The Piece in the front of the prow is also missing and I have to replace the other two sections of the prow & hull which it would have joined, which would be butt- jointed to the bottom lengths of the hull. Apart from offering me a match has anyone any advice for me?

First off, post pictures so that we can see what you are talking about. Post them to a picture hosting site like Photobucket, and copy the url into your post.
    Secondly read this thread.

I believe that Mirrors were made entirely of plywood, the only solid wood being in the rub rails etc, so your slab of ash is probably best kept for something else.
It really is quite difficult to build an ugly wooden boat.
