    Default Boat Shed

So, I plan to jump into building a boat soon but need a place to build it. I am thinking I will never build anything longer than 24 feet so what size should the shed be? I'll need to have all equipment, supplies, etc in the shed. I am thinking 16 x 25 to allow for tools and equipment but I have never done this before. My question to you experienced builders is this: What have I missed, what am I not considering, what would you do?

    Thanks!

where are you and when will you be working?
    will you be gluing? sanding?
anyhow , I like to have a roof, no walls. This way . one can see the vessel and blow the debris out. And, I like to leave the lofting floor up as long as possible , so I may have 2 sheds.

I am in SC and will be gluing and sanding. I also need some security for tools, etc. so I plan to have the building enclosed.

You will need at least 3 foot clear all round the boat, more if you can. You can skimp at the end with the doors if you don't mind working with the doors open, & if your normal weather will allow. Then add the width of your work bench down one side. If you are building inverted on a ladder form and can put the form on castors you can then push the boat to one side to make more room. You will need more space if you are working with sheet ply.
It really is quite difficult to build an ugly wooden boat.

As big as possible. I'd say a two car garage, 24 X 24, at least. If you really think you'll do a 25' boat, go at least 30' long.
Ceiling and door height is important too.

search sheds and workshops on here, this has been discussed a few times and there have been some great posts that you'll be unlikely to see again otherwise. But for a 24' boat I'd suggest a 30' shed

The rule of thumb for a minimum shed is 1 1/2 times the boat's length and 2 times the beam.
