    Default Farmers' Market

Here in Wickford they have started having one at 3pm (1500 to the Navy) every Thursday.
Got some nice tomatoes, green peppers, and okra, I'll fry up with some garlic for dinner tonight, yummy.

    Thumbs up Re: Farmers' Market

Nothing better than fresh localy grown produce.
We really need a farmers market in the big city neighborhoods.
Cleveland, Ohio has a great old farmers market in the heart of downtown.

We may have all come on different ships, but we're in the same boat now.

I'm lucky to live behind a very active farm.... started by an engineer who decided to leave the high tech rat race, and leased many acres of land belonging to the Kendal foundation, which is now owned by the Audubon Society. Over the past thirty years, the farm has grown tremendously; they have planted hundreds of fruit trees, and raise every imaginable kind of vegetables and fruits. The former farm stands is now a lovely modern building where they sell the local produce, as well as bake breads, pies and cakes, and make jam.

The ironic part: the original engineer who started the effort (with just an acre or two of strawberries) had a heart attack within a couple of years, and died... but his sons continued on, and they're now very successful.

Ward's Berry Farm is a family farm located
in Sharon, MA. Brothers Jim & Bob Ward have
run the farm since 1982, offering the finest quality
fresh picked fruits and veggies. Their mother, Ann
uses family favorite recipes to create her famous
fruit jams and jellies, as well as the fresh cookies,
muffins, breads and pies sold in the store.

Our shelves are stocked with a large
selection of gourmet grocery items and prepared
foods to go. The store has an awesome sandwich
    counter
and deli, as well as a smoothie bar with
soft-serve ice cream and slush. We also specialize
in artisan breads, gourmet cheeses, homemade
jams and gift baskets made to order.
