Gee, Glen, with such a convincing point of view, I'm amazed that more Southerners don't just hop on your bandwagon. 
Charlotte is a Democrat controlled city, in a state with a Democrat Governor, and until recently, a Democrat controlled State legislature. It is also a major city with the facilities to handle such a convention, and in a state that the Dems need to win.
Having said that, local media folks are starting to refer to it as the Democrat National Cluster. Personally, I'm staying away from the Uptown area for the duration. It's going to be a mess.
