Default Sailing my CLC Skerry at Mayflower Beach, Kodiak Island

Here's a little video my wife took while sailing off Mayflower beach in Kalsin Bay, Kodiak. When I circumnavigated Kalsin Island a little over 1 mile off shore it only took 15-20 minutes to get there but over an hour to get back. My sail is reefed here. I can almost sail 45 degrees into the wind with my balanced lug if the wind is blowing hard enough. It seems to like a 10 knot wind best. There's a fine line between boredom and terror. I'm looking forward to some improved performance with the Sooty Tern I'm building.

Very nice, Neil! And yes, your new Sooty Tern is going to absolutely love that area.
    Amphibious Macroplankton Oughtredia doublendus
Mostly found frequenting the littoral and estuarine zones in the southern half of the Salish Sea, though sightings have been recorded both north and south of this area, and occasionally, but rarely, inland, in freshwater environments. This species lives on micro-brewed beer and dutch-oven biscuits, and displays brightly colored nylon and gore-tex plumage during the rainy season. Approach with caution!

I sail a balanced lug rigged Mac canoe, I like the look of the area and I like "There's a fine line between boredom and terror." as I can relate to that well.

Awesome. Haven't been back to Kodiak since 1999. Need to return, and check it out again.
