Default Johnson Evinrude outboard float gauge dimension needed.

    Hello

I've just installed a 15 hp 4 stroke 1995 Johnson outboard on my sailboat. I am setting the carburetors float height. Instead of just giving me a dimension the manual wants me to buy a float gauge. I'm down at the dock puttering with the carb now. If anybody has the Johnson/Evinrude p/n 324891 float gauge, could you please measure for me the depth of the cut out for the 9.9/15 hp carb float height.

    Much appreciated

    Stewart

Without a gauge, the best way to set the float depth is remove the carb, turn it upside down. The float should be level with carb body in that orientation ( maybe just a red hair proud)

There are two kinds of boaters: those who have run aground, and those who lie about it.

Kevin, thanks for the reply. I'm set there now but still looking lean, just wanted to see what the factory setting was.

    Thanks again
