Leaving young kids unattended in cars is a criminal offence here because of too many deaths from heat exhaustion.
Little kids dehydrate fast.

This happens a lot. Not just kids, but pets.
I've seen a few cameras and other things get destroyed by the heat in cars.
My question remains: why not work on building cars that don't get so damned hot sitting out in the sun. I'm not looking for "cool" just not fatally hot.
Congress begins every day with a prayer. Enough said.
the fire dept's WHITE vehicles were used in the test mentioned at the beginning of one of these heat death threads...150 degrees... remember?
John, what do you do for a living? I'm thinking engineer types must realize it is not practical to do such a thing as you want without RADICAL changes which are not gonna happen.

It's really just a matter of social responsibility and awareness.
Over here, people WILL call the cops if they see kiddies left in cars on a hot day, and Will open a door and let them out until said cops or ambo's arrive.
Used to happen, not so much since they made it a crime.

When I took the dog to get groomed, I kept the car running with the air on, for a few quick stops. Just carry an extra key. I called 911 a few years ago when I heard a dog wailing in a dark parked truck in the giant store parking lot. Was at least 85 degrees. They came fast and used a tool to open the door. A ticket was issued for cruelty to animals. The Humane Society took the beagle. I've been considering one of these. Even with the windshield cover my car got so hot it cracked the dash.Product Feature:
The AutoCool uses sunlight to keep your car cool while you're away. When you come back to your car, you'll find it comfortable and cool.
How it works -- AutoCool is a solar powered fan that keeps the interior of your car cool and fresh.
No batteries are needed. Just roll down your window, place the Auto Cool on it, and roll it back up.
The solar panels on the outside collect and use the sunlight to run the fan that's on the inside.
The fan in the AutoCool circulates the air that's inside and outside of your car.
It sucks out the hot air that's inside your car and replaces it with the cooler outside air

Parents don't kill their kids in hot cars. The sun does.

There is no solution the these incidents.
You can't pass a law against stupidity.
You can't restrict stupid people's access to young children.
You can try to educate stupid people, but they are stupid so they won't learn.
IS there a solution?

"never send a ferret to do a weasel's job.."
Well, we obvioulsy can't do anything about the problem of kids and pets in hot cars until we do something to solve the larger problem of all kinds of child and animal abuse. Anyway, there were laws that were passed and we were told that those laws would solve the problem but they lied to us and now people want more laws and more regulations. We already compromised on "reasonable' laws, but now they want more. If this continues, the left wing nutjobs are going to take away our right to have kids and own pets.
Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired, represents, in the final analysis, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children.

Since you're on ignore - I can only respond to your title. I say -- Good Topic. I know when I was a child (high school), I had a hot car. I almost killed myself with it several times. But... what do we do about it?
