So yesterday I was motoring (board up, so minus my close-in depth sounder) out to Hyannis Port and departed the channel a nudge early. Not worried since the tide was just starting to flood and I'd come off sooner or later but it was sooner. We were out past the No Wake zone and a couple of stinkpotters dragging half the ocean astern gave enough bumpitybump that I could get turned back towards good water and then Nantucket came charging in and its displacement wave rose high on the shoal to liberate us. So now I don't have to clean the very bottom of the keel for Saturday's race.
