This new ship here is fitted according to the reported increase of knowledge among mankind. Namely, she is cumbered end to end with bells and trumpets and clocks and wires. It has been told to me she can call voices out of the air or the waters to con the ship while her crew sleep. But sleep though lightly. It has not yet been told to me that the sea has ceased to be the sea.--Rudyard Kipling

I'll be there, with my two girls and my buddy David who lives on Oak Beach. About noon I guess.

    Hey Roger

No Skiff. Bringing my kids--2 girls, 5 and 7 --and my friend Dave. Dave has a Carolina Skiff docked at his place at Oak Beach, so we were gonna call bill in the AM and see whether we should just ferry ourselves over or call for a ride if beach/dock/mooring space is tight.

I sailed this year so didn't get many photos. I'll post any that get forwarded in the future. Light turnout this year due to several other events happening at the same time. All who attended seemed to have a great time and the weather was perfect.

Most of the moored fleet. I had the pleasure of meeting Tom Mac who built the two outer boats. A Joel White Flatfish and a just launched Caledonia Yawl. This man is a boatbuilding machine. He's retired and has built a Catspaw dingy, two Haven 12 1/2's, a Flatfish, and a Caledonia Yawl.

Breakaway (Kevin) inspecting one of the crabbing skiffs.

Some of the power boats. I missed a few that showed up as I was sailing home.

Yeah a big Mathews ( I'm pretty sure) pulled in just as you left and Bill was ferrying me and the kids off the island.

I'm sorry I couldn't make it, Roger. I'd have liked to shake hands with Tom Mac and Kevin.

    Next year.

Tom Mac was kind enough to give me a heads-up, but things came up. Sorry I missed it, Roger! I'm shooting for next year!

Thanks for the pics. I'm partial to the crab skiffs. I take it these are boats built along Chapelle's lines in his article on Chesapeake skiff types?

Yeah, can I get some more info on the two Crab Skiffs?
