Just saw a 'breaking news'..... Lochte wins the 400 IM; Phelps manages only 4th. That had been his signature event; Phelps barely got into the finals, finishing 8th. Fade seems a bit early!
There's a lot of things they didn't tell me when I signed on with this outfit....

I enjoyed watching men's archery and women's foil fencing today.
Those target bows are hung with too many accoutrements for my taste.
US men won Silver behind Italians/
Italian women took all medals in fencing.

The Live Extra app is pretty cool. You can watch every event streaming live. I was just watching women's table tennis and women's rowing. The app will alert me 15 minutes before any sailing event takes place.

Unless you've got pay TV, which we haven't, our coverage is the usual xenophobic version which only shows what the Aussie team is doing interspersed by very loud ads advertising what rubbish they're going to show after the games. I won't be watching much but I'll try to catch some sailing and canoeing next week.

This live streaming is so cool. The Stars are on their last leg and France has come from last to take the lead.

Ryan Lochte is the real deal. Just realized he was born in Canandaigua, NY a few miles down the road from where I grew up.

Of the four women's table tennis matches going on right now the Japanese player looks the strongest. But the Polish girl with one hand is looking pretty good, too.

Kim Rhodes gets Gold in Women's Skeet, tying the World and setting the Olympic record, 99 of 100.

I was sorry to see 16 year old Ariel Hsing lose to the Chinese player in Table Tennis. But she played really well, making it to the third round.

I caught some of that match this afternoon. Remarkable play from both of them. I could barely follow the ball.
