Default Forgive me if I've sinned...

I just sold my Tom Hill designed Charlotte solo canoe to a guy who's going to suspend it in his post and beam house as decorative art over his dining home table. Is this a sin? He lives on the shore of lake Champlain, but uses tupperyaks to go paddling. My beautiful little boat should be cleaving the waters of the lake instead of hanging from the ceiling, but he was the only one who seriously answered the craigslist ad. At least it will be preserved and he said he won't be drilling holes in it or anything, so it could be used for paddling in the future.
He also bought a 15' rowing/sailing dory skiff that I've been trying to sell. At least that will get some use by his kids on the lake.

My big hope is that now that I've sold two boats, my wife will consent to my building another. Now that I'm down to just six boats, how could she refuse?
I was born on a wooden boat that I built myself.

Well, I spent a lot of time and effort to build the boat. Then spent many a day paddling it. Smooth water, rough water, paddling into coves and creeks, etc. I was alive with this boat and now to think of it just hanging from a ceiling doesn't seem quite right. I wasn't using it much anymore, but at any time I could just take it off the rack and go have fun. Now, it'll be in a sort of boat "prison". Within sight of the water but not able to once again glide over the surface.

I'd rather paddle or sail than build, but if you need another project....
Wait. ....You said you're down to six?
What would you do on the seventh day?

That's why my next build will be a sailboat. Six days a week, I either paddle/row or build. The seventh day should be dedicated to rest. Resting in the bottom of a small sailboat, just tweaking a line now and then and lazily pushing the tiller.

It's not good to hoard the boats you build. Send them along and build another one. That canoe will get used again when that guy, or maybe his kid, comes to his senses after staring at it hanging there for enough hours. And it will be stored safely out of he weather until then.
    Amphibious Macroplankton Oughtredia doublendus
Mostly found frequenting the littoral and estuarine zones in the southern half of the Salish Sea, though sightings have been recorded both north and south of this area, and occasionally, but rarely, inland, in freshwater environments. This species lives on micro-brewed beer and dutch-oven biscuits, and displays brightly colored nylon and gore-tex plumage during the rainy season. Approach with caution!

Exactly my thoughts. He's just preserving it for future use.

Always have lots of boats,so if your wife gets mad you can sell a boat or two and still have lots of boats.(my wifes favourite saying)

Impress upon the owner what a sweet sweet boat it is. Extoll its virtues over and again. One day he will have some big fancy party, a Fancy Friend will mention the boat pointing at it while holding something expensive to drink in his hand, Fancy Host will say "the guy who built it says it's really sweet" and they will drink enough pricey stuff and finally Fancy Friend will persuade Fancy Host to take it down for a drunken paddle and it will never go back up.
