I ran into an interesting storm today. The sky went black and it got a bit ugly on the roads.





I pulled up at this set of traffic lights and the clouds were boiling... and only a couple of hundred feet above me. After the lights changed, I got hit by some microbursts as I crossed the bridge that is just visible in that shot. I was pretty much convinced I was going to be blown off the bridge. A very ugly feeling.

Huh!.... Looks like just about every day last year, and half the days this year.... And no... No pictures.... I might take a picture of the clear blue sky though, if I ever see it again....

She's smiling cause there's three nice size catfish in the orange bucket and she caught them all.

Mapping the channel on the Snake River, WY, Tetons in the background. We could see squalls hitting the peaks pretty hard.



Not too bad out on the flats. Until this came our way—



The gust front came roaring upriver and kicking up nasty waves. Couldn't row against it, so I pulled us off as it started raining buckets, and we hid in the forest 'til it passed over. The good part was there wasn't much lightning.

I think I tempted the thunder gods. No photos because its been at night, but the storms here have been felling trees on the refugee camp I'm staying at (Nu Pho, near the Burma border).

We had a dozen scared folks come and sleep in the temple with us last night, 18 the night before when the storm hit at 4am. One dead, one broken back and more. The broken back happened next to us... a 3' diameter tree flattened two bamboo huts next to the temple.
