How was the month-long vacation already? You're remiss ... there's been plenty of time to post pictures.

Oh, bugger it. I guess I'll have to post some pics - especially since I got a new camera in Barcelona.

But don't expect regular travel photos - I wouldn't presume to bore you with that. Give me a bit of time to make a selection, and post it on PictureTrail through my @#&*%! Dial-Up connection...

Wouldn't you know it - after ImageStation, now it is Picture Trail that refuses to work for free!

Anyone have any suggestions for an image-posting site? I am trying to post some nice wood and bronze boat pictures, but PictureTrail seems bent on making me subscribe for bucks which I refuse to pay!

Try Flickr. It's free and easy. Here are the instructions for posting photos from their "Help" page:

To get the URL of the actual image file, first find the photo you want to use. Then you should see an 'View different sizes' link to the right of the photo, or you can use the 'All sizes' link next to the photo. Select the photo size you want from the available options (square, thumbnail, medium, and large or original if you have permission to access these). If you're looking at one of your own photos, you will see two text fields underneath the photo. The first one contains the URL to the image itself, and the second one contains a snippet of HTML that will produce the photo on your website, with a link back to the photo page here on Flickr. Simply copy and paste the one you're after into your website.

No luck with Flickr. They demand a credit card number and billing address - and apparently it has to be a US card and address.

I use a site from an English fishing forum for the pics but they've just changed the software and am not sure how long it'll stay running

I wonder what is involved with this forum hosting there own photo/doc sharing. I bet there are a bunch of you guys that know how that stuff works. Is there a reason why Woodenboat could not have this possiblity.

ER...the reason is that bandwidth costs money. Hosting pics, and serving them on call, requires lots and lots of bandwidth.

The pic site on Anglersnet.co.uk is provided free by one of the companies that advertises on the site, so providing someone provides web space it should be easy but dont ask me how to do it!

I'd pay WoodenBoat to host and serve pics, as well as for use of the forum. I think it would winnow out a lot of undesirable members if it cost them to play here. I don't, however, expect that to happen.

George, Image Station sent me 'something' saying that I was to update to higher level or else lose my membership with them and that they would take my collection off the web.

I just ignored them for a month and they seem to have forgotten about me and have stopped pestering me. Things are back to normal and I've put dozens of images into my collection over the last few weeks.

Stick with them but ignore them, it worked for me.

    Warren.
