    Default Iron/Steel Stem Bands

    Hello All,
I am restoring a Charles W. Barrett double ended Rangeley Lake Guide Boat. When I got the boat it was missing the stem bands an I need to replace them.
I believe the original bands were made of 3/8" half round iron. I am having trouble finding suitable stock for making replacement stem bands. Can anyone offer any suggestions? On original replacement parts? on an alternate material?
    Thanks for the help.

Here you go. Dunno what shipping from the UK would be, but you may be able to find it locally:

It really is quite difficult to build an ugly wooden boat.

Half-round is quite different from half-oval.
It used to be common (as were a lot of ornamental bar stock shapes) but is no longer readily available. I had to fabricate some (steel, 1-1/4 full half-round) for a larger museum restoration and finally resorted to splitting a piece of full round and having it hot dipped galvanized.
If brass was acceptable you could do this with a simple fixture on a small bandsaw. (Bend it before you drill the holes...)
