I haunt the muddy banks of Oakland and Alameda. That's no centerboard, sir - that's a depth finder!

I'm a Brit who's come over to restore a wooden boat in the bay.
Would any of you want to meet up sometime for a drink or for a sail? I am also looking for someone who can teach me the ins and outs of brightwork.
Pegasus, I've sailed in the Solent quite a bit so I look forward to perhaps talking to you about that! What are your restoring?
Sounds a good idea. Have sent you a message.
Oue, Never stick my neck out of building and repair much, welcome, I have seen a few posts from other 'locals', perhaps they will surface over time, Cheers, Steve Hutchinson aka Boattruck
You could even organize a Wooden Boat EBS (Elbow Bending Session) somewhere around here and see what you get. I'm in El Cerrito, but don't know much about brightwork on big boats.

Thorne, I like your hat and your idea. I'm getting in touch with some of the others in the area through MMBA and Spaulding, so let's try it out and see what happens!
I'm not but I could do with a HUGE favor from someone in SF if there is anyone here who might frequent the St. Francis Yacht Club.
Amongst their outstanding collection of model yachts within the club house, is a model of a Rhodes 33 sloop named Revielle. I am restoring her sistership and would love some photos of the model if that someone had a camera.
PM me for an email address.
Thanks,
J.
Aloof..
You'll find me at the Point San Pablo Yacht Club in Richmond. There are several master Mariner's boats here.
I'm on for an EBS almost anytime.

We had a fun EBS at the PSPYC a few years ago, and I'd be up for another. I'll be recovering from ankle reconstruction for all of August and part of September, so not sure when I'll be mobile again. Go ahead and plan one for when most of the folks can make it, as you'll never be able to get 100% turnout.

Thorne, We got a ramp, no need to stay away cause you are temporarily 'gimped'. Oue, you might want to bring the boat up for the Chicken Ship Regatta, up the Petaluma River, its a ton of fun with a bunch of other Master Mariner types, the MMBA web site has a list of many of the local water front happenings. Cheers, Steve/BT
Another Marin County resident here, would love to do another EBS, last one I sponsored, as Thorne mentioned.

I am in Alameda and sail Black Jack out of Fortman Marina in the Oakland estuary. As far as brightwork goes, I am a failure in comparison to many here.
You might consider coming to the Master Mariners BBQ at Spaulding boat works in Sausalito this weekend. You will get a chance to meet some fine folks, get a burger or such and taste a fine malty beverage. The Chicken Run to Petaluma is one of the best weekends, third only to the Wooden Boat show and the beautiful Master Mariners Regatta. The sail in to China Camp with the small boats is a nice weekend too!
I do like the idea of a Wooden Boat Forum meet up. Let's find a spot to gather.

I'm down in Menlo Park, on the SF Peninsula....have a 15 foot skerry, sail/oar boat, but spend years and years sailing keelboats with the Singlehanded Sailing Society.
Curently being severely tempted by a Haida 26 in Monterey, which at least has a wood deck, though the rest of the hull is glass.
