    Default St. Michaels, MD

We had our annual weekend at Harris Cove Bed & Boat, http://www.bednboat.com, near St.Michaels, MD. You know you're at the right place when the proprietor hands you a tide table when you check in. There are about 8 rental cottages, very reasonable prices, with a launching ramp. With our Nutshell, we were not the typical guests. Most guests' boats (and their outboard motors) are painted cammo. This place is really for the fishing & crabbing set, but we've enjoyed nice family visits for several years. They also have outboard skiffs for rent and a bunch of kayaks for free use.

With the tide too low for daggerboard and rudder, and with a light wind blowing right into the cove, we had to row out to open water to raise sail:

With the kids now in their teens, they are getting big for the Nutshell. This is probably the last year to have all us of in the boat together.

Here is my rig for cartopping the Nutshell. I have loaded and offloaded it by myself, but it's a little easier with two people:

Once on top of the car, the extender arms are unbolted and removed:

We stayed at Harris Cove a couple of years ago for the Small Craft Meet. My dory stood out too.
