Well the Balboa is finally gone. I know I should have kept it and finished it up, but other things have taken priority and I wasn't making progress on the boat. And besides this gives me an excuse to build another.
But be that is it may, I had been trying to sell the Balboa on Craig's List and had been getting a lot of feedback on it. Unfortunately it was all the scam type. One day I was watching TV and this show called Barter Kings came on. This show is all about trading and trading up. I thought to myself, "Well, I need the room in the yard and this selling is going nowhere fast, so lets try this barter thing."
So I put the Balboa back on Craig's List, but this time in the barter section. Didn't take to long and I had 2 people interested in a trade. The first one however wanted to trade a generator and he sent me pictures of it including the data plate. The generator just happened to be a 2 KW generator and it would have been a great trade, but alas it was actually an Army piece of equipment. I ran the serial number in LOGSA and it showed that it was still in the system, so no deal there.
But the second guy came buy and looked it over and has heard good things about the Balboa, so we struck a deal.
Now keep in mind I pulled this boat out of the woods and had about $100 in paint and $25 in sails. He ended up trading me a Hungarian copy of a Browning 9mm (valued about $250) and Mosin Nagant M44 Carbine (valued about $350).
So by my calculations I'm about $475 to the good on this trade and can now concentrate on the Ninja and then move on to building another boat.
