Wait until morning (business hours) and go and get some real help. Don't have a real clue what is wrong but it sounds like you've strayed away from podiatry and into the sphere of orthopedics......

Slather comfrey (symphytum oficinalis) ointment on it...or make up a poultice if it grows near you...known in English as knitbone, portuguese as soldar (weld) I am a sceptic but this stuff really helps. In uk the brand I think best is 'Potter's' Then keep it bound all the time it's practical....melhores (get well soon)

Ya- that was the port side ankle. I think I broke a bone in the starboard one, using it while I healed the other one. Old age sucks. I have muscle rub on it and put a brace on it this morning. Taking the swelling down.Unfortunately, the clinic don't do things like this.They would send me to the hospital. The hospital would cost thousands of dollars for CT, MRI and Ex rays. Going to keep it up today.P.S. The red glitter glue didn't work.

a good doctor should be able to tell a lot from just a simple x-ray, which shouldn't be too expensive. there are times when you should really call in the professionals. sorry to hear about the ankle. good luck.

I was about to post this. Get the ankle fixed. If he doesn't get it fixed it will only get worse and the difference is priceless.

There are many new things you can get to wear on feet/ankles short of a cast.

Well, that's just one thing. It's really swelled under the outer ankle bone also. All the steps up and down in the boat, and boarding is really causing issues with it. I took a 800 Motrin and it's still in pain. I have an ice bag on it now. I could see if I had done something to injure it, but it's just continuing to get worst every day. I just assumed it was from the other ankle being baby'd after I sprained it in January..hurts up to my knee.

Thanks Bobby of Tulsa. Fredz sent me to some links and I found the exact symptoms.I do have high arches, so that popping is probably this.

The posterior tibial tendon serves as one of the major supporting structures of the foot, helping it to function while walking. Posterior tibial tendon dysfunction (PTTD) is a condition caused by changes in the tendon, impairing its ability to support the arch. This results in flattening of the foot.As PTTD becomes more advanced, the arch flattens even more and the pain often shifts to the outside of the foot, below the ankle. The tendon has deteriorated considerably and arthritis often develops in the foot. In more severe cases, arthritis may also develop in the ankle.

I think the clinic can handle it.

Orthotic devices or bracing. To give your arch the support it needs, your foot and ankle surgeon may provide you with an ankle brace or a custom orthotic device that fits into the shoe.
Immobilization. Sometimes a short-leg cast or boot is worn to immobilize the foot and allow the tendon to heal, or you may need to completely avoid all weight-bearing for a while.

you dont need 20 diagnostic tests, you need a simple X ray to diagnose the problem. Without any medicare assistance or subsidy, it costs about $200 bucks here.
I cant believe an x
xray will cost thousands even in the USA.

Hi Meli This is the USA. The Dr.s have to order EVERY test, for their malpractice insurance coverage. Has nothing to do with your darling sons issues. So most tourist's make sure they have coverage when they come to the US, for this very reason. It's not silly to me when I cant walk, and I'm grateful for the help for this. Miss you.

I need to be stable when we are docking and using the lock system here. Bass boat shoes are too tight to get them on. Even my sneakers wont allow them in. Love shopping for shoes

That's a great idea. We have a Bass outlet store here that I get discounts at. First stop Monday. So much to get done..just ordered new life rings and flares, Dog needs grooming..long list of walking. I will go straight there Monday. You have to be nuts to go to the Outlet mall here on the weekend. Bus loads of people trucked in. Then boat over to the next Marina for 160 gallons of non ethanol fuel.That should be a good test on the foot, with new shoes. Amazing, the change in it- not even taking an aspirin
