Default republicans are starting to cover their butts on health care repeal

"If you thought it was a good idea for the federal government to go in this direction, I'd say the odds are still on your side," McConnell said. "Because it's a lot harder to undo something than it is to stop it in the first place."

Do you really think we enjoy your spin on every single little quote?

Do you believe we are incapable of accessing the HuffingtonPost website without your help?

Do you have nothing better to do on July 4th than read that stuff, and cross post it here?

Yeah, I'm downloading pictures of the 4th of July fireworks on the National Mall.

We just got back from watching them.

See your point Brian. But why is McConnell even thinking about ahca when his main and sole job is to get Obama out of office?

The title of the thread has little to do with the article: another warddism

It's no wonder the hardcore Republicans don't want to compromise. Look at the reaction from the hardcore Democrats when they even lean that direction.

So what matters to Republicans isn't the public good, but their hardcore orthodoxy. Which has been obvious for some time.

    This was interesting:

If given control of the Senate next year, McConnell said he would support using budget reconciliation rules to repeal it. Doing so would prohibit Senate filibusters and require only 51 votes to succeed. In 2010, Republicans lambasted Democrats for relying on these rules to pass the health care bill, calling their tactics unusual and hyperpartisan.

Live by the sword, die by the sword. Do Democrats not realize what it means to set precedent? Do they really believe that only THEY can use creative tactics? Whatsa matter? Can't compete on an equal footing?

Wasting your time. An accurate memory would threaten their entire world view. So they just make up the past as they go along, merrily trying to screw up the future.

They either have short memories or were lying. Health care reform was NOT passed using budget reconciliation. It passed the Senate by a party-line vote of 60–39 on December 24, 2009. 60 votes is pretty much required since the Republicans have decided to filibuster everything.

Here's the record of the vote at senate.gov.

The point of the spear is wherever Mitch McConnell is so that's where the political battle will be. If you wish to be elswhere that's your business.
