Default heat... and how it affects us

Ya know how people get to beating, stabbing and shooting one another during heat waves? Well, it’s happening in my daughter’s family as of yesterday. No, no one has hurt anyone physically, but my 19 year old granddaughter blew her top last night (the day was full of her and her 13 year old sister fighting like cats and dogs) and did the thing that would wound her little sister the most. She destroyed ALL her music (he refuge in times of stress) including getting on her mom’s computer and deleting all the music that Mom had bought and Meghan’s practice music for her acting/singing classes. Meghan is destroyed and Alex doesn’t get it…. Heat is hell.

The river is down to a trickle. Firecracker day is almost here and there is little doubt that there will be fires caused by folks who won’t listen.

Stupid stuff is bearing down on us and no way to divert it short of a successful rain dance. Everyone seems to want to nurture their private anger.

I’m going to drive out and see if I can get Meghan to come home with me but she hasn’t wanted to for a while and I don’t know why.

Sounds like things are bad down your way. Good luck with the girls.

It's not the heat, it's the Dew Point:

It only gets real hot here for a few weeks a year, If it gets hot in portland or even just one mile in from the beach Fog banks roll in after a few days of heat.

I was doing Hot Tar and i think i had some sort of heat stroke because since then i cannot take the heat anymore.

So i work oily in the morn, Rest in the mid day sun if i can and pull a shift in the evenings..

A pith helmet or straw hat helps with a Water/ice bandanna..

I get grouchy in the heat

Any 19 year old who would act like that has a behavioral problem that has nothing to do with the weather--she's acting more like a child than most 13 year old kids...and I don't care what the younger child did to precipitate the behavior.

I'm not trying to be mean, but if she did what you described she has a serious issue with her temper....

    Conditions here right now at 9:21 PM;

    Temperature; 39 C
    Dew point; 20 C
    R. Humidity; 33 %

It's really tough so I would say that the temperature can not be ignored.

    Heat Index

An index that combines air temperature and relative humidity in an attempt to determine the human-perceived equivalent temperature.

Are these girls actually outdoors suffering from the heat or are they indoors with AC?
Rather than blaming the heat, I suspect poor social habits and violent personality in the 19 year old.
She needs a psychoanalyst before she has children of her own.
I can't imagine why the 13 year old would not want to spend a few days with grandpa, being lectured, schooled, and preached at.
Sounds like a barrel of laughs!

The heat makes me happy..... But I try not to show it.... So I act grumpy, and miserable (Like normal, but I blame it on the heat......)

And, perhaps, the 19 year old will learn about restitution by having to replace, at her cost, everything of her sister's she destroyed (a valuable life lesson that hopefully won't be lost here, imho).

At the very least. If she gets away with that, the behaviour is simply reinforced.

Being empathetic and saying sorry is damned hard, apparently, for some.
