    Default Mid-Atlantic Thunderstorm

I expected to see a thread about this, but maybe those who would have posted about it don't have power and internet back yet.

This was the wickedest storm system I've seen short of hurricanes or tornados. The whole system was supposedly moving a 65 mph + when it came through my area, and it was definitely more like hurricane winds than any normal thunderstorm.

The only good thing is that it was going so fast, it was gone pretty quick. Thankfully no real damage here, just limbs down and the like. But it looks like a lot of folks got hit real hard by this.

I was reading about that a little while ago. I spoke with my brother in eastern Va. today and he said things got pretty wooly last night. His power was still out this afternoon along with all the traffic signals, local biz and radios stations in town. He said it's sort of eerie when you can't even raise a signal on a portable AM job.

Our local weather guy showed a radar loop of the system going through. It was purple in spots! He said several spots clocked winds over hurricane strength.

Our daughter lives down there, but luckily was up here visiting us for a couple of weeks. She heard from friends just how bad it was/is.
