That kid is great. Still: the best banjo scene in any movie
This year is the 40th anniversary of the movie's release. Folks in Rabun County GA where much of it was filmed are planning several events. others are protesting because the movie is too stereotypical of the region.
I remember when the movie was being filmed. It was the biggest thing to happen in that area ever. It resulted in lots in jobs, and created a whole new tourist industry for the area that still survives today.
Is it stereotyping the region, I do not know, but I can introduce you to some folks from that area that could have played in the movie.
I've got a long recording of Roy Clark and a banjo player who's name escapes me at the moment. How do I get a file from MY MUSIC in my computer into a post here? I think you'll enjoy it.
