Thread: Can anyone identify this boat?

Default Can anyone identify this boat?

Saw this at a truck stop today. It's about what I'd like to build. Anyone know what it's called and where I might find some plans? It's about 20' long and a 9' beam. Kind of like a dory, but with a round bottom. I'm thinking it's a Block Island Cowhorn, or double ender. Any comments or ideas would be appreciated.

Looks a lot like a Cowhorn to me, too.

Yup. 28' Block Island double ender, aka Cowhorn.

Wow! That's not just a link to a similar boat, but a link to the very boat I saw at the truckstop in Kentucky, for sale. Even has the same trailer under it. Look at the next to last picture on that link and then look at the first link I posted. Same Maryland registration number. Guess he sold it.

I'm afraid the new owner is going to be very disappointed. It looks like the strapping and boat stands in use (totally inappropriate for transport, IMO) have already distorted the beautiful hull.

Photos in and of themselves have many distortion problems.
I would not make such a judgement from a photo.
Those that fall behind will be left behind! Arghhhh
