    Paul, do you think it is better to let a criminal go before taking a chance on jailing an innocent?

    with that in mind:

    do you think it is better to hold a gun to a sleeping girl then shout her awake with verbal abuse before taking a chance on someone flushing evidence down the comode?

    the answer may clear up my thinking but if you'd rather abuse non-suspects than let evidence get away then I know your answer to the first question...

    it's only a matter of degree

    the police could ALWAYS have rushed in and secured the comode... they chose a harsher 'preventative'
